Is it just me or are the board trying to pull the wool over our eyes yet again?

Our last game against Hearts was on 9th May 2010 and here we are over 1 month on and there are no signings in the door.

Lenny was told he would know his future after the Hearts game and it took 4 weeks. They then said they had been talking to a host of players - but that seemed dependent on Lenny's appointment.

IMO if that was true we should already have unveiled at least two or three players by now.

Or has Lenny become a YES MAN as it now looks as if he has to sell before rebuilding - the board don't seem to be displaying the confidence I would like to see.

Just out of interest, what's celtic's true financial situation, is there much debt? If so, how huge? and will that affect the transfer budget and player recruitment?

Will we be spun the same old stories about how we tried to sign Keano, Bellamy etc only to be told it's hard to get quality players to come to the SPL? .Surely not this season when its even more important to win the league with only one CL place available.

    Signings

Usual drivel coming out of Parkhead. They build the fans hopes up for major signings then we are told Celtic have bid 1.3m for D Murphy of Sunderland (who cant get a game for them by the way).

We might get Sol Campbell but would we call him a major signing, dont think so. Dont get me wrong Sol will probably do a job for us and he is better than McManus but not what we want to call a major signing.

Remember if it wasnt for Robbie last season we might not have got 2nd place.

The qualifing rounds of the Champions League start early so we need or players signed quickly and get them used to playing for the Tic.

Lennon has drawn up his wish list and he has got the job. He also knows who he wants and who he wants to get shot of, so why are we dilly dallying. Get out and sign some half decent players and never mind trying to off load or better players first.

    Nothing changes!!!!

what i have never understood is, why the * they go on holiday at this time of year when they know we are on a tight schedual to have everything ready for the cl qualifiers. surely the best time for a club manager and director etc to go on holiday would be when international breaks are on.

for the record i would definitely describe sol campbell as a major signing - if david weir can come up to scotland and do as well as he has at the age he was then just imagine what campbell could do in our league.

i wont be holding my breath for a plethora of major signings but i wouldnt be shocked to see 1 or 2 big names arrive. ive always been the eternal optimist though i suppose :celt_2:

have u seen a handsome hun
sorry but i believe that to be rubbish. this has been a timing issue....lenny's known he had the job sooner than they are leading us to believe. i reckon they were holding off so that they could gazump the huns from the headlines when they sell their club....i reckon celtic couldnt wait any longer and had to announce lenny. lenny has already admitted he was working like the manager and chasing signings......the usual problem with celtic signings is that we seem to take forever to seal the deal.....at the moment if its a player we need it should be a case of what do you want?.....and...there ye go....welcome to scotland.
i've already given up hope that we'll make a keano type signing.
and i'd bet my left nut that lenny's announcement didnt have the unregistered rushing to renew their season books now the manager had been unveiled.

The manager is not long in place. I expect a few signings before July begins. Cambell and Lawerence maybe.

It's widely beleived by the majority of the press and most people with a bit of nouse to be the other way around. 'They' attempted manipulate the press to try and knock Lennon off the back pages. Thankfully this has been seen through even by those in the media, as the story has found to be hollow. But hey, anything to have a go at the board, eh?

I'm glad you have no influences over the finances at the club, that would be a suicidal way to 'negotiate', you'd probably make a good few friends with some agents though.

As for the delay in signings, i'm confident that this will boil down to waiting for potential bosmans contracts to run out, combined with waiting to see who comes in with solid offers for players in our already oversized squad. I expect our overall budget this coming season will most likely be heavily influenced by the outgoings.

Maybe the fact the transfer market doesnt open until the 1st of July i believe and there is a small matter of a World Cup going on doesnt help either.

Good point - well presented - feel free to lock or delete this thread any time you feel.

If however there have been no signings by 8th July, please reopen!!:56:

I've read elsewhere about it being 1st July too, however how would that explain Wolves signing Steven Fletcher?

Maybe it's earlier for transfers within member FA's? i.e no international registrations allowed?

Most of the players we've been linked with are free agents and their contracts expire in few weeks time. We should do out best to tie them up on pre-contracts, but even then we can't sign them until they're released by their clubs.

Don't see what's the fuss about new signings, there's plenty of time to make moves on transfer market and transfer window isn't open yet.

Until then, enjoy the World Cup.

If we sign Daryl Murphy we have lost the league, thats how strongly I feel about it, he was booed off the park by Sunderland fans in most games, he cant even hack it in championship, if we get him I will put my head in a food blender and turn it on
