Now 2010, 5 years of nothing, I make it.:84: It was just a reference to the lack of experience thing.:50:

Im happy enough with the appointment based on his efforts to get the job.. Would have had to been a proven succesfull alternative to get me excited , as experience on it's own doesn't mean jack * , but would we have gotten an experienced winning manager type to take a one year rolling contract.. probably not.. Could be the start of something really great if it all clicks into place and I've no concerns about Lenny's commitment to winning the title back , so my expectation will also be quite high..

youre point was that people are only getting excited about lennon because hes a celtic legend, which to an extent i agree with, but then you tried to compare thier history with the club and thier managerial carreers making them sound similar when there not, not with celtic anyway, that was my point. :50:

The Board have picked a Manager to win the SPL. Nothing more. Nothing less. Any success in Europe will be a bonus. Apart from 1 other Team, the SPL outfits compare with those in the bottom half in English Championship & Div 1. So The Board have acted accordingly and done so on the cheap, having spent (by SPL standards) a fortune bringing in/sacking TM and his 2 amigos plus a 'footballing' squad, some of whom I believe will now be either sold or loaned out to accomodate a team of grafters able to cope with the variable Scottish weather.
Is it a risk? Yes. The first indication of the type of Manager we have in NL will be with the players who come in/go out. My deep concern is that in their playing days, none of the 'Management' were the most creative/tactically astute, but all were strong, proud of the shirt and could pass a ball. Unfortunately, pride, passion and an unquestionable desire to do well does not always bring success. You need to balance that with skill, creativity and tactical awareness. Here's hoping.

i will confess that Mark Hughes was always my first choice, but as it became more and more obvious that Neil was getting the job, I have accepted it and i am looking forward to it. we have a young, hungry manager eager to prove himself, a tough * who won't stand for any * and someone who knows the SPL inside out; none of which Mowbray was (for all his toughness as a player i was suprised at his rather detached demeanour) :(

i was impressed by Lennon today, that does not make me gullible or dare i say it celtic minded (which is a total media myth by the way); now that he is the man the sniping has to stop, Lennon spoke of "uniting the fans" again and he may well be the man to do that.

i'm not going to predict anything in regards to winning the league or whatever i think at the very very least we will actually have a title race this year and as for winning the league? we shall see; but hopefully with some new faces coming in, a new, young hungry backroom team in place, we shall hopefully see the league flag flying back over Parkhead..........and we'll be at Wembley for a certain final :icon_mrgreen:..........aye right!

there's only one Neil Lennon!!! :50:

    do us proud!

I have a strange feeling of dejavu........................mmmmm what a dull appointment, now that he has convinced most that he can do it, he better come up with the goods!:....one last question....if mobray had never been in the running last year, and it was announced that neil lennon was the manager, would everyone have been so jubilent?...doubt it, this worries me greatly:54:

Well i was alright with Lennon facing a penniless rangers, but now it looks like Lennon will be facing walter smith who will have a little bit of money to spend and i would suspect that little amount will be spent wisely. We need to spend more and be even more wise if we are to come out of this champions.

100% behind lennon just a tad nervous.

he done enough in the tail end of the season (bar the blip. oops!) to convince me that he at the very least deserves a shot unless a manager of real pedigree came forward, and that unfortunately didnt happen personally i wanted Sparky but that was a non runner the other names pardew curbishley davies are all * non-entities and id have picked lenny over all they * in a heartbeat!!!

Well its done for better or worse, so its time for us all to get behind the new manager make paradise the Fortress it once was and get back to winning ways, if we win the SPL that will be progress and I'll be happy with that, anymore like Europe, Scottish/League Cups, will be a bonus.

Im going to be honest and admit weeks back, when Lennon's name was been strongly linked with the job I honestly thought he lacked the experience and was simply the cheap option by our board, since then its looked more and more likely he would be given the job and I have since warmed to the idea of him been manager, Mowbray couldn't get the lads fired up, dont think Lennon will have that problem! Even with a posh suit on you can see he wont take no *! The passion for this club is almost exploding from his body.

At the end of the day I know that he will only sign players 100% commited for the club and will also only play the starting 11 who deserve the place and who will each give 110% for the Celtic cause. What more can we really ask?

    Happy but concerned.

Basically, I know he's got all the attributes to be a great manager for us and he's Celtic to the core. Just like we should be though, I'm concerned about his lack of experience.

listen what * difference does it make! lennon is manager and fair doos cheaper, you honestly trying to tell me if we spent a fortune in a man who has more experiance than lenny comes in and will do a better job than him? * your makeing out he is * hopeless and no got a clue ,he took a team full of * * which were mowbrays and made them compete and play as a team all in the 9 games he had bar the semi final. got to give the man a chance ffs and stop greetin as if we have lost the * league already.

we have been linked to some decent players and therefore i think he will do the damage and shut * all you dougters up. he was a winner as a player and HE WILL be a winner as a manger.
