Does no-one care that our Holy Goalie might be leaving?

Reading through the comments in 2 or 3 threads in Celtic Chat and in the Transfer Rumours section over the past couple of weeks I have been really struck by the number of people who seem quite willing to just shrug their shoulders at the prospect of Artur Boruc having played his last game for Celtic and leaving the club.

I simply cannot fathom this! :31:

Is that all Artur deserves after the amazing service he has given us? To be emptied out the door without a proper chance to say goodbye to the supporters and to not even be missed that much when he goes?

It seems to me that some people think we can sell Artur Boruc, pocket the money and not even notice that he's gone because we have Lukasz 'the poor man's Holy Goalie' Zaluska. Zaluska is not in the same class as Artur Boruc and perhaps that is a lesson some Celtic fans will learn the hard way if/when Artur leaves.

There also seems to be a school of thought that Artur has been * for the last two seasons - total nonsense! He had a shocking season in 2008/2009 there is absolutely no question about that but I thought he was quite good last season and was certainly one of our better players. I honestly believe that some people fall into the trap of thinking that because he isn't playing as well as he did in 2006 - 2008 then he is playing *. Again, that is just nonsense. I admit that Artur isn't playing as well as he did in the past but that doesn't mean we should just jettison the guy, he is still a * fine goalkeeper and the best goalkeeper on Celtic's books by a distance.

I for one will be completely devastated if Artur leaves Celtic this summer. Until this issue is resolved one way or the other I am finding it very difficult to muster up any enthusiasm about our new manager or any new signings we might make. I really hope the board will get their finger out, sit down with Artur and convince him his future lies at Parkhead. If they allow Artur to leave without so much as a proper goodbye, like they did with Chris Sutton and Alan Thompson, then they can get to * because I will never forgive them.

Please stay Artur, life just wouldn't be the same without you between the sticks! :54:

A would like him to stay but am not going to lose any sleep over it. He doesnt seem to be wanting to sign a new deal so i dont think were in a good position financially to allow him to leave for nothing next season.

Hes only one player he is not bigger than the club so dry your eyes and accept he may be moving on. Sorry to sound harsh.

Dont think he wants to sign a new deal, so we are better cashing in on him than losing him for nothing next season.

He has not got back to his best which in my opinion was 2 years ago. Zaluska is a fine goalkeeper, so i say sell if he does not want to sign a new deal.

Zaluska is more than capable, love big artur but a good offer would suit both parties,we need a strong team not just a popular goalkeeper..!

I agree mate, Artur is an amazing keeper and I don't want him to go. On top of that 3.5 million just doesn't seem enough for a player of his skill. I also agree that we would only realise how good he was when he was gone, Zaluska is a good player, but not the same 'class' as Boruc.

    * Bless the Hoalie goalie, and hope he stays!

EDIT: I must say that if he is refusing a new deal then maybe it would be fair because it means he himself wants to leave.

Artur love Celtic and we all love him but maybe he feels he can have one last go at actually playing at the highest level if rumors of interest from teams such a Sevilla are to be believed. To be honest if we got in excess of £3 million i would be sad but that could be put back into the team to improve positions which are in more need of improvement (LB, ST) so all things considered it would not be too bad at this point. If he get's back in good shape though which he really has to do then i would love him to decide to retire in the hoops.

hes a fantastic keeper ,but what i'd do is offer him an extension and if he rejects then sell him,id rather sell himthan lose him for nothing

I don't want Artur to leave......problem is, everybody has a price not to mention the fact that he may feel he's had his time in Paradise.
Anyway, just to get the message across....I WANT HIM TO STAY!!

The figures of £2.5 - 3million that have been quoted for Artur are another thing that * me off. For a goalkeeper of that quality it should be £5million MINIMUM. We're just giving him away if we sell him for £2-3million.

Personally I wouldn't even accept £5million. I just want him to stay. He's a legend.

I think artur will want to be a part of what lennon is building. If celtic show artur that they want him enough and that the defence is going to get sorted out, he will realise how good he has it here and how much the club and fans want him to stay.

If however, thats not good enough and he wants a new challenge, 3m is a fair price at this stage of his contract he must be sold rather than running his contract out.

Seems like you're bigger fan of Artur Boruc than Celtic?
Well, that just support my postulate that Boruc's person and religious belief makes him special in manys eyes. It often seems often to have more to do with his person than his abilities on the pitch.

Anyhow, I don't want Celtic to be a "seller club", and I don't want our profiles to leave the club (Boruc, McGeady, Brown Hinkel ...). So it would down to be about if Celtic should recieve a pretty huge offer to even considering letting our profiles go.

In this case I see nothing that serious should indicates that Artur Boruc gonna leave the club, and as far I remember he states he wants to stay at Celtic everytime he gets the question.

The board should have better things to do than makes statements about the players, just because some fans have special feelings about the player.

If you can't relax now, I dunno when you have the chance to relax. And wait to start worrying until there's something to worry about.
