  1. I thought he was decent last night, but his decision making was awful yet again.

  2. The thing about Mcgeady is that he thinks he is guarenteed a place in the team every week and he is above putting the effort in and imporving.

I remember the first couple of seasons he had he was exciting to watch, played consistantly well and got high praise. I think this went to his head and he thinks he is better than he is.

  3. Too right !
this is another thing, why they stopped the reserves a dont know, he could have been dumped in there for a few months, bring him down a peg or two

  4. How do you know that?

  5. My arguments FOR Aiden are:

He's quick, has two good feet, can play on either wing, can do some ridiculous things with a football that others cant, is brave and always looks for the ball.

Yeah he'll lose it sometimes and the odd pass will go astray, but give me an out and out winger that will take on a full back rather than grafters like Davis or McCulloch any day of the week.

On form he's unplayable, I can remember many good Euro performances from Aiden:

Milan at CP when he gave the full back a roasting, benfica at home when he scored the only goal and was MOTM, Milan away in the last 16 when he played behind big Jan, Benfica away when he plays the support role behind Killen, Shakhtar at home when his determination squeezed in a cross in for Donati to score, the first half against Barca in the last 16 at CP when he skinned puyol 5-6 times and set up both goals, Villarreal last season when he was MOTM.

Thats just off the top of my head.

He has 10 assists and 6 goals this season. I wonder how much his assist rate would improve if there was a Henrik Larsson in the box? Bear in mind we haven'y exactly been blessed with great strikers over the past couple of seasons.

How do u classify a cross as a good cross or a final ball as a good final ball? Does someone have to score every time?

For me, 9 times out of 10 the ball goes in the box when he gets wide of the full back, it never goes into the stand or out at the other end.

I would agree he's perhaps not the best striker of the ball, he doesn't seem to be able to generate a lot of power, even then, he's scored a few spectacular goals this season.

I'm a fan Aiden and I agree, no one would complain if he was putting the ball on a world class players head. Hartson in the box? Aiden crossing? Celtic were good back then and thats when Aiden was good. I mean, look at who's in the box when he crosses the ball!

  6. Cheers pal, good post... !!! :50:

Some I disagree with you on.

Yeah he has got good feet, but does very little productive with them!

His work rate is terrible, and has a tendancy to let his head drop, and only looks for the ball when Celtic are on the accendancy, I feel he is known to hide when Celtic are under pressure and especially in the big games.

I also woud never say McGeady is unplayable, when guys like Broadfoot have had him in their pockets more than the majority of time.

I think you can count on 1 hand how many good games he has had in europe, and for me, thats a sad enditement on the boy, and the main game you mention against Milan, a centre half playing at full back Coloccini, was years ago.

Everyone doesnt have to score every time for it to be a good ball, McGeadys end product is poor, period...

His scoring record is awful, as is his shooting...

Never has a player divided the fans so much, I would say its easy 70/30 against McGeady... Great players do not divide opinion mate.

    But cheers anyways bud :86:

  7. He planted the ball on keanes head last night, brilliant cross but keane * it up.

I think that has happned a lot now I think of it remember when we were all moaning about the strikers missing early season, who was supplying them:rolleyes:

  8. That was McGinn :56::56::56::56::56:

  9. :97: was it:fear:

  10. Same at the weekend.. He burst a gut to get to the byeline to put over a cross from a well overhit pass by a team mate (the ball looked over the byeline to me when Mcgeady got to it) and he put it plum onto Keanes head and he he put just wide of the post.. Mcgeady also played the ball across the face of goal which Sammy hit against the post.. When Brown was in a similar crossing position against Ross County there were two players in the 6 yard box waiting for the ball and he played it straight behind the pair of them and straight out the other end of the 18 yard box.. Unless Mcgeady is winning games or creating the chanes that lead to goals then the good stuff he does usually gets overlooked in favour of the dwelling on the ball or badly timed cross , weak shot etc.. We really need more creators in the team so when he's had an off day we can still get through games with the right result..

  11. 1)Unfortunately for us, those type of players are about to wrap up a second successful championship.

    2) The Goal against Benfica was VERY LUCKY. Took one * of a deflection

    3) I havent saw it for ages, but did Naylor not set up 1 of the goals against Barca??

  12. Yeah mate

And I would take Davis every day of the week over McGeady

watching spurs arsenal now, the pace of the game is frightening, McGeady would get over ran down there...

  13. some magical moments, some great play...but its time to go now

  14. and who will take his place? grow up and stop jumping on the bandwagon of slagging of players. You are all pathetic

  15. rubbish , rubbish and.... rubbish

  16. What?

    Your post?

  17. if john hartson a "celtic legend " said we should keep aiden that will do for me . and he cant pass or shot well he fair planted 1 for keano in the second half right to his boot may i add and he had some good shots aswell didier agathe didnt have the greatest final ball either but we all raved about him

  18. 1) Granted. They have a brilliant back four behind them and a prolific striker in front of them though.

    2) Goal might have been lucky, but go back and watch the highlights of the game or read the reports. He made the full back look silly that night.

    3) Naylor put in the eventual cross for JVOH goal, but only after Aiden had left Puyol for dead on the left. Aiden then dropped the ball perfectly on Robsons head for the second.

  19. Cherry-picking 2 or 3 European games doesn't really give a fair reflection, he's been poor in Europe more times than he's been effective.
