no matter who is playing there are always a few guys that think they are funny when they shout something during that minute of silence. sad but true. for one or two seconds they get the attention of the whole stadium and really think it was their moment when in fact they just make a complete fool of themselves.

You're right mate, but you still don't want idiots embarrassing our club by disrespecting the dead.

As long as they don't all burst into song then it can't be branded a disgrace.

You're a disgrace to the Celtic cause, either keep it shut or ship out.

Celtic fans should be able to be self-policing. When Rangers introduce these things for someone who, with the greatest respect, I have never heard of, it does seem like an attempt to drag us down with the people who couldn't respect a minute's silence for Matt Busby (knighted by the Queen as well as the Pope, mind you).

Keep the mooths shut for 60 secs and give a stern look to any daft boys in the vicinity.

A lot of folk have never heard of him, fair enough but surely we're human above all else and it costs nothing to stay schtum for one minute. Those who find this a difficult task or have selective tourettes can always go for a pie or a * and avoid embarrassing themselves and our beloved football club. Just don't be a moron.

why don't the supporters get together and declare to the board, the media whomever else that we're observing a moment of silence for something we care about. that way, we can enroll our people to observe the silence and have this conspiracy backfire, if it indeed is a conspiracy. if it isn't a conspiracy, then we pay homage to something that is important to US. just an idea

Observe the silence with your utmost respect. It doesn't matter how many appearances he made.

    Rest in peace Gerhardt Neef.

I say we observe the silence and dont fall into the trap waiting for us. Whats to stop Celtic asking for a mins silence at Parkhead for next OF game, and let them take the bait and show their true colours. We shouldnt lower our standards to that of the Huns, we have the moral highground, and rightly so, we dont want to lose that

For the people who think this is a trap to make some idiots shame our club.

Just respect the guy that is dead and stay silent for one whole minute. Don't be that idiot!

Don't shame our club, support our club, 1 minute of silence and then 9o minutes of singing Celtic songs!

I dont see what the debate is about. Celtic no longer have minute silences. The supporters always do miutes applause. If that is our way of showing the respect to a player who has died then who is anyone else to say that it is wrong. I know that I would rather be sitting on my wee cloud in heaven looking down and seeing people clap for me rather than having them all bored and thinking about their dinner last nite!

its 60 seconds for * sake. at falkirk we were told it was because people wouldn't honour the british army due to events outwith the world wars. how the * is a guy that played 30 odd games for them forty years ago that next to no-one has heard of so offensive that you can't keep your mouths shut for a minute. how hard is it to stay quiet for one minute?
or is it just an excuse to get folks backs up?

This has disaster written all over it. Already some of the posts in this thread are alarming. I'll be observing the minutes silence, not in rememberance of the guy, but to keep Celtic's name out the gutter. Don't rise to it bhoys, show your class.
