Celtic are a Scottish team, this bullshit should have nothing to do with us. I really don't know why anyone should be proud to associate themselves with something which has NOTHING to do with this country. I always find it insane hearing 15 year boys from coatbridge singing about things they no nothing about, and have no right to no about.

I don't have a problem with the rebel songs as the majority of songs sang are a rememberance to fallen hero's and innocent victims , not about murdering people.

Which part of the clubs history has been a partner to the Irish Republicanism movement?

Indeed it is, and being a club, and support open to all, you will have to accept the fact that not all will share your opinions, political or otherwise.

A Scottish team with proud Irish roots. These songs are a way of showing our proud Irish heritage.

Why do these "15 year old bhoys from Coatbridge" (a terrible stereotype btw and one that reeks of ignorance) have no right to know about this ? And how do you know they know nothing about ?

thats a pretty bold statement to make. was banned for a month for making a comment to your good self which i apologise for.
I was taught nothing but English,Saxon,Norman and roman history etc but never a word of Irish history for the education board forbid it,even though i was born on the island if Ireland and classed myself as Irish meant nothing. My knowledge was learnt from family, friends, books and the love of GLASGOW CELTIC,if it were not for the singing of songs i would never have known of john Knox and many others,be they of historical significance or celtic legends. To hear young men of 15-16 singing songs of maybe there ancestry, for i take it you would never give them the time of day to ask of there beliefs or why they sing there songs.Rebel songs have always and always will be part of Glasgow Celtic forever wither a CP or not

Our Irish history comes from Brother Walfrid forming a football club to help starving irish immigrants in the east end of Glasgow

    Not the IRA

My dads side are all of irish descent and I am therefore very proud of my Irish roots, but I have no connection with the IRA nor do I wish one

I support Celtic FC partly because of my roots and partly (mostly actually) because of their style of playing football and attitude which suits me. I would prefer songs to stay away from politics and religion, imo those things and football don't and shouldn't mix. They have their own arenas for debate and their own disputes but don't drag it into football.

We shouldn't have invaded Iraq, but that's the fault of Tony Blair and his cronies.

Why do people proclaim to know what the club is all about?
The club was formed for the Irish immigrants to help each other through charity.
Do you think that Brother Walfrid knew how big his and now our great club would be?or which direction the club or fans would take politically.
He was a Holy man looking to help his own.

The SFA and UEFA implicated that these songs from both Celtic and them were basically "outlawed" and both teams would be deducted points and they would get hammered if this carried on ,but we see and hear it every week but nothing has ever came of it.
