Michael Davitt was a socialist who was concerned with humanitarian issues, I stated the social focus of the club should remain - where's the contradiction?

People who are suggesting that because Davitt laid that piece of turf then rebel songs should be sung are the ones that are contradicting themselves as Davitt was against an armed struggle.

I see no contradiction at all in what Dannighirl says. She also knows plenty more history than most.

Suggestions to the contrary seem to me to suggest that you're not actually listening.

Don't get me wrong, you're entitled to your view as is everybody, but the 'lack of logic' angle is a bit...well...illogical.

Opinions will be varied, but I haven't seen any illogical ones on either side soa far. They're simply that: opinions.

Exactly what does that have to do with whether or not rebel songs should be sung at Parkhead?

celtic park is for singing celtic songs.pro i.r.a songs are for elsewhere.my brother recentley came up from blackburn for a visit bcoz our cousins from cavan came over and we went to failte in town.my brother was in the army and served in northern ireland in the 80s so when the band came on and sang celtic and rebel songs i asked him if he wanted to somewhere else,he said no its ok.my point being it made me feel quite awkward.my dad was a republican and very pro ira but im sure he would agree that rebel songs arent for celtic park.

Exactly the same as your point about politics being brought into our club by various groups. The first group that did it - was the CLUB.

the solution is to have a bigger song book, not sing rebel songs. :86:

Re-word your post to : Should the billy boys be aloud to be sang at Rangers and we'll see a much different poll. Same question basically though.

You are wrong!! The IRA were never a terrorist group they were (as you fail to mention they no longer exist) a legitimate army fighting in a war against an illegal force. lets no lower this discussion to those levels

The British Government regard the IRA as a terrorist group. That's a fact.

They shouldnt be sung at Parkhead........they have no relevance to our team or what goes on on the pitch.

The wearing of the poppy is about remembrance. That's not politics.
