This is how it feels to be Celtic
Why should he feel loyalty to fans who did nothing but slag him when he worked his baws off to bring them success?

I've never known any individual to split the opinion of the Celtic support the way Gordon Strachan did/does. That in itself says a lot in my opinion.

I'm outta this thread now as I'll never convince those who liked him of my opinion. And none of the pro-Strachan Tims will convince me it was fun or enjoyable to watch his team's style of football. Therefore to continue arguing is fruitless. Cheers bhoys. :50:

You supported him. He should have been loyal to you.

But I wasn't upset by his remarks. I think he's right, so he is being loyal to me by being himself. :bbpd:

LB is a position that 'foxed' many a manager. Even the Lions had Gemmel a right footed guy playing LB. Naylor may have been hot and cold but when he was on form he was probably the best natural left footed LB I can remember before Fox signed. The only other ones of any quality were Tosh and Mahe but they couldnt defend and would have been murdered at CL level where I think for some reason Naylor played some of his best games. Like it or not Naylor was probably the best natural LB we had had in decades when he signed and most people thought in his first season. Naylor like Artur seems to have had a year totally off the rails for personal reasons and unlike Artur, fans have not forgiven his dire form last season.

i agree with mowbray we do lack quality especially infront of goal the best player from the strachan era has also left in naka but like said before they asked the question knowing the headline and knowing it could steal the back pages away from ibrox

MON inherited Lambo, Lubo, Henke, Mjallby, Stan, Jackie. WGS's basically only inherited one player, Stan (who was sold after a year) who much left in the tank. MON hadnt signed a first pick player in 4.5 years and it was showing.

The proof is what sort of careers did the players who left or were punted by WGS have after Celtic:

Agathe-nothing after Celtic (think his only asset, pace, was going)-rightly punted. Did nothing after he left.
Jackie-mediocre injury ravaged career after Celtic-rightly punted
Lenny-Had one good season left in the tank for WGS but poor in his last season. Did nothing after he left.
Thommo-was finished before MON left IMO. Expensive waste of a contract. Did nothing after he left.
BBJ-Did nothing after. Basically done. Did nothing after he left.
    Sutton-Same as BBJ.
Bobo-Not suited to a passing style team. A waste of a big contract.
Stan-The exception. A young player with good years ahead and good market value but he was sold after a year because he insisted.

So, one year in, the only player of MON's side who was still much use was Stan and he was sold.

    CONTRAST

WGS left a young team and when his last games included some good players with years ahead of them. Even the most cynical would surely say that Artur, Hinkel, Aidan, Shaun, Brown, Robson and Skippy are a useful base to build on. They just needed a LB (done) a couple of good CFs and a CB or two to be a very decent side. The club have known that for a couple of years but have not shelled out the going rate. Probably why WGS left.

Tony Mowbray needs to remember that he is now a manager in the spl and not the epl,and the players he is so fond of slating might be in his team for a very very long time.
Just becuase he does not want them in the celtic side does not mean they will be sold and he can spend money on replacements, celtic dont have the money he is used to spending.
Wgs knew this and tried to talk up his team and keep there spirits up when things were not going to plan, even if he knew himself they played *.
Lets hope Tony's style does not come round and bite him in the *.

I cant believe how such a pie in the sky paper thin story with practically zero substance can suck so many normally good posters into a tired old WGS debate.

Oh yeah here we go....8 league games into his first season with a defence shipping goals, Strachan's defence at that and it's so very easy to blame Mowbray. You make it sound like those 3 titles were won against worldbeaters when in actual fact the opposition was rank rotten and we did try our damndest to throw the league more often than not.

Gunt, from the moment TM was appointed you've not had one good word to say about him. Every one of your posts has a negative slant against him. I can almost hear you wishing failure on him. Get a grip! He's said nothing that isn't true and obvious to all of us. Or would you rather be sat hunched over the radio in thr throws of a wet dream listening to GS spount on about how devastating and skillful we were despite playing like 11 Chelsea pensioners

the policy of "buying for the future" was absolutely stupid knowing full well that the reserve league was going to be scrapped. we bought squad players by the handful who are nowhere near the first team, but all of them will be on a handsome weekly wage. We will end up farming these guys out to mini hun outfits in Scotland to get them games and we will be footing the bill for it. We needed to buy for the immediate in order to crush our rivals and when on top we could, at our leisure, introduce the youngsters from the training complex and youth set up. Instead we have a bloated squad of mediocre players who will be on at least a couple of grand a week which we could have saved and spent on a couple of decent players for the here and now who would have shaken up the actual first team. A first team that includes a great many dumplings.

Mr Mowbray, however should be careful with his words, N'Guemo is yet another tippy tappy smurf in our midfield and is pointless addition to the squad as we already have a few tippy tappy lightweight smurfs already there. Crosas, by golly what a performance that was to stake a claim for a more regular game!

I dont buy the "we havent got any money" crap. The guys playing for Celtic, pick up more than any other team in Scotland, apart from the huns, and more than many other team throughout Europe. You can bet your * they are on more than the Romanians who pumped the huns last week to a man. There are quality players out there who would be grateful to play for Celtic and the money on offer. We need to go get them and get rid of some of the utter * masquerading as our representatives on the football pitch

The squad is poor, yes most of them managed to out perform the huns to win 3 in a row but it was obvious last season that it was time for investment in the first team, not racking and stacking the Ben Hutchisons of this world.

Mowbray should shut it, WGS should ignore it or (PLEASE *) relieve us of some of these utter genious plaayers he saw at training.

finally McManus should be stripped of captaincy now for that assault tonight, a shameful tackle which would be frowned upon in the junior game. That was not the "Celtic way" and was shocking. He is a big haddy.

Ye usual media warp * about a question that was asked, and he was 100% correct in the way it was answered. Was in no way was it any attack on TM. Get with the program and understand how the media operate.
