I was just watching the 'Twists and Turns' DVD last night and I couldn't help but notice how much slimmer Scott McDonald looked 2 seasons ago. He looked a lot trimmer around the shoulders, not so barrel chested and definitely looked a good bit slimmer than what he looks at the moment.

I know he's always had a big * on him and been a bit of a stocky wee * but does anyone else think he's looking a bit heavier these days than he used to?

If he's carrying too much weight then maybe that partly explains why his first touch seems to have worsened and why he doesn't look just quite as razor sharp as he used to.

    Thoughts?

He's never had a first touch , he is a very average striker at best thats all , nothing more than a spl striker apart from the goal last night he did sweet * all , i would not be too unhappy if he gets punted in jan .

    Spot on there!

he could play for Motherwell, St Johnstone whatever and wouldn't really stand out. So lucky that he gets paid £25k a week and plays for Celtic, completely undeserved.

Typical Strachan 'settle for mediocrity' signing

Do you think any of our other strikers will hit the back of the net as often as he does? So if we get rid of him who will be our poacher?

Re the OP, sometimes I think he looks a bit bigger than others, can't say I've noticed too much this season although I'll look out on Sunday :50:

He's still the biggest goal threat we have by a fair distance. Unless there is a proven goalscorer coming in it would far too much of a gamble, in fact it would be suicide, to sell him.

I agree he does need to lose a bit of weight but i'm not sure if it's because of his weight that he's been so * this year.

I think he maybe got a bit too big for his boots and thinks he's better than he actualy is.

His first touch is what can only be compared to an elephants.

I would say that if we get a few million as quoted for him then I would have every confidence in Mowbray replacing him. I think one of his major flaws is he breaks down alot of attacks with his link up play and touch being so poor, although in and around the box he certainly comes alive and has a great turn on occasions.

You have to be taking the * * mate. Some people just dont have a * clue. I cant beleive I'm reading this. Completely undeserved? 25 goals in 36 in his first season, has a goal ratio of more than 0.5 a game.

Mediocrity? International striker for Australia, who are better than Scotland and Ireland btw. He will go to the world cup, yet he's mediocre.

Who the * do you think Celtic should have up front? Do you think we should just buy Benzema and Ronaldo?

no doubt this is true, he moans at everyone else, and as soon as someone has a go at him, he goes absolutely mental - like McGeady last night.

    Attitude problem,

But is he not the 2nd highest paid player nowadays??

Also, regarding his weight, he could have just been working out at the gym fs.

Yes completely undeserved - well done he scored 25 goals in 36 playing for the old firm - what a massive achievement.

Kris Boyd scores 10 more goals than that a season and he's sh*t.

And how many did he score last season - im not sure he made 20, which isn't a great return at all, considering he hasn't got anything else to his game.

Sorry - since when did the country you play for come into how much you get paid, you *?? He doesn't start for Australia for a start. But by your reckoning, Hinkel should be on about 60k.

And what, mediocre players never play in the World Cup - oh sorry i forgot about the French guy, Stephane Guivarch... he was a world cup winner and he was absolute garbage. Stevie Fulton went to a World Cup (i think) what a great player he was.

Being a sub for an international team, and being included in a squad for an international team is pretty much meaningless... if you're a striker for Celtic you're going to get a shed load of chances compared to other players, so you've got a better chance of scoring more goals.

Therefore your stats are going to look better, even if you've got the same ability as some *-kicker from Kilmarnock. but if you can't understand that's your problem.

Yes, that is good. Larsson wont of got that in one of the seasons he was here, but I suppose, he was * too.

Boyd is good. He scores * goals. Thats what a striker is supposed to do. I dont give a * if he seems lazy, if Rangers didnt have Boyd the last two seasons, theyd be * struggling for 2nd place.

Can you see anywhere in my post '' Your wage should be determined by your nationality.''? Can you see that? No. So stop spewing *. It is much harder for an Australian to get into to the Australia squad, than it is for a Scotsman to get into the Scottish squad simply because the players are a much better class. Therefore since he can get into the Australia team, he must be half decent.

I cant understand? You clearly know nothing about football mate.

If it's so easy to score goals for the Old Firm how come every Old Firm striker doesn't score 20 a season?? How come Chris Sutton could never manage 20 in a season for Celtic but Scott McDonald did?

I'm not saying Skippy is a better player than Sutton was but he's proved to be a better goalscorer than Sutton was and everyone thinks he was a legend.

Give Skippy some credit FFS!!! :87:
