    McGrain McNeill Mjallby Gemmell

    Johnstone McStay Murdoch Lennox

    Larsson McGrory

What do you reckon? Best ever team? Not sure about Mjallby but I absolutely loved him and he was a part of probably the second best Celtic team in our history.

Intresting having Mcgrain up front as well as left back would have Daglish and lennox upfront and Gerge Connelly instead of Mjallby.

    :56::56:

    *! That needs edited.

I was going to put Connelly in there but for me he retired to early. He's more of a what could have been as well. Although he played a similar amount of games as Johan.

it would have to be Jinky he is the only player that admitted missing Celtic and when he go told his time was up it nearly broke his heart, there was a choice, but the fact Henrik hung the pea, deliberately or not, it had more effect on JIMMY leaving CELTIC. so on that i must state.

Mentioned him a great many pages back, but John Clark is an underrated and under-appreciated part of Celtic. So much admiration for him it's unreal :50:

Aye, he was getting called 'the shitest of the Lions' on here off of someone...

But he was a massive part of the team, was crucial to our style of play. One of the first actual classy centre backs instead of just a hatchet man.

Bang on mate ,My 3 main men as legends were Jimmy - Dalglish and Connolly so any best Celtic team from me would have those 3 in it.

Well we know that's nonsense mate. Sheer nonsense. He was in world class company right enough - and to be the least best of a team of the Lions' ability would be saying you're a better player than most anyway :56: - but completely the wrong way to put it. He was a very good player, especially combined with Cesar.

And on top of that has worked at the club as a Player, Assistant and Kitman for at least double the amount of years I've been on this planet. I'm sure only Willie Maley has served Celtic longer. Under-appreciated Legend of our club :50:

Dalglish was a pain to leave out, was originally going to be Henrik and him upfront but I needed to include McGrory, just becuase that is an insane record he has.

Connelly I did have in originally but... well it just seems such a waste with him. Anytime I think of him I can't help but think what could have been instead of what he actually was, if you get what I mean? What age was he when he retired, 26?

Another one of the Lions who rarely gets any real mention is Stevie Chalmers. A lot of people forget he's our 4th top scorer behind McGrory, Lennox and Larsson. And he played in a considerably less amount of games than Lennox :50:

as it says on the tin, henrik could have singed a new deal if he wanted to, and by doing so we would have made a few pound from his sale, we never sold him on when he said he was finishing up. Henrik must of knew he had a offer on the go, and stayed with us till the contract ran out hung the pea iF you like we tried to keep him, but then as it turned out all Henrik's deals were his own deals. JINKY ON THE OTHER HAND WOULD HAVE PLAYED FOR NOTHING, HE LOVED CELTIC AND THE FANS A REAL GUY, AND YOU WOULD NOT FIND MANY OF THEM IN A DOZEN:celt_2:

That is a really naive statement, butch.

    1. Henrik honoured every deal he signed, with Celtic, Barcelona, Man U & Helsingborg, His word was his bond & once committed, would fulfill every obligation of his contracts in a thorough and professional manner.

    2. Again, look at Jimmy McGrory. In the late 20's Willie Maley & the Celtic Board tried to orchestrate the sale of McGrory to Arsenal. McGrory refused, saying he would only ever want to be known as McGrory of Celtic... and the Celtic Board never forgave him. Indeed, for the remainder of his career he was paid less than every other Celtic First Team regular of that era. McGrory loved Celtic, scored more goals for Celtic & for all his efforts, was completely taken advantage of and treated pretty * poorly by Celtic. Yet he never waivered.

My point about referencing McGrory is to show how the absolute Celtic playing idol of his era was treated, as a counter perspective of those of Jinky & Henke. It is different eras, but McGrory, Jinky & Henrik are legends in their own right and all served the club with absolute distinction.

Had to choose Larsson. Growing up he was just a wizard banging in the goals, hero!

Larsson could have been off-ski to some of the top teams in European football sides at any time in his Celtic career but he chose to stay for 7 odd years instead. That's why I'll always love the big man.

Funny thing is, if you look through every era of Celtic our board has always been pretty despicable. Although the most abuse has been aimed at the likes of Fergus McCann and Dermot Desmond. Once Fergus left people started looking onto him as the saviour he was for us.

It completely baffles me that a lot of the Celtic Support was against Celts for Change but the flack that Fergus, Brian Quinn, Dermot Desmond and Peter Lawwell takes/took is too such a high degree, maybe because we were comparing him to David Murray at the time. Who it has been more than uneqoivically proven was the absolute worst thing for Scottish Football.

Aye, every board pre-Fergus * the fans and the club over more times than you could count. The Kellys and the Whites had a lot to answer for.

It still annoys me that Michael Kelly is rolled out every now and again on Celtic matters. His regime nearly ripped the soul out of our club. The only one who has one iota of respect was Bob Kelly and again that is arguable, his stance on the Tri-Colour affair was admirable, as was his relationship with Jock Stein... however, he did * as over on several occasions as well.

At almost every stage of Celtic's history we've been mismanaged, up until 1995.
