Pukki is quite obviously a better football player than Eero Markkanen. But that doesn't really matter, because if Markkanen is brought in, he won't be playing in a similar role as Pukki. As a target type Markkanen will be able to contribute more to Celtic than Pukki did, even if he's not an equally good football player.

Like I explained on the last page, Markkanen was bought by Real Madrid not because of his current level but because of his potential. He was obviously a risky purchase, but if a 197cm player starts training seriously in his 20s and then rockets from the Finnish 3rd level into one of Sweden's biggest clubs in just two years and becomes even a top 10 striker in the Swedish league in this time frame, then the question we're asking is not how good is he now but how good can he be in two, three or four years. This is the question Zidane was asking when he had Markkanen bought.

And this is the question Celtic should be asking if they are interested in Markkanen. Don't expect a Champions League group stage level player now. Right now you cxpect a decent SPL player, but one who has genuine potential of developing into another Peter Crouch.

    What about Lacina Traore?

Doesn't seem to play for Monaco, wages obviously a stumbling block but I'd say he is within our reach. Loan deal maybe.

    It was only 2012..:smiley-laughing002:

He done alright for them, obviously enough for Monaco to buy him. Still only 24, fits the target man bill, without doubt.

Crouch was a great player, look at his record in Europe and internationally. Criminally underrated footballer.

Monaco paid 12 mil for him, unless they're trying to get him off the wage bill and he's willing to take a cut it's very unlikely.

Probably not as unlikely as us signing players from Man united and City though so * it, #BringLacinaHome

We can flip a picture of Paradise and tell him all the tricolours are ivory coast flags.

I agree he is underrated a bit, but those records are helped mostly by scoring against weaker teams

I think there's a lot of potential there with Hendrick. He's probably on decent wages at Derby though.

Would we stand a chance of getting Fabian Schär as Van Dijk's eventual replacement?

We should be looking at Helander from Malmo.

Yes, 100%. He seems a good guy too - always comes across as being very humble, imo. Probably my favourite English striker of recent times (not that that's saying much at all).

Well, the huns paid £4m for Jelavic a few year ago from Rapid but he was proven in Europe(unfortunately against us).

No more than that for this boy, probably less I'd guess. Even though this was his first major goalscoring season his record before that isn't embarrassing either. 81 in 221 isn't the worst for a 24 year old striker.

    * knows we've signed worse in recent years:smiley-laughing002:
