    achievement? coyle?

nearly won promotion with St Johnstone

one unexpected over achievement season at burnley

    thats it

and to think we questioned WGS's credentials!

i fear we may have jumped too quickly to appease the supporters who will only part with their cash if they think they are getting a Celtic man

If he is the man choosen ,im right behind him ,how can people possibly right someone off when he hasnt set foot in parkhead yet ,another manager with no support from supporters who basically hounded strachan out the door .

ie ,who had heard of Wim Jansen before he came ,done the job ,GS -done the job ,get a grip give the the man a chance whoever it may be .ive got the feeling that it doesnt matter who gets the job ,theres allways going to be an element who moan.

First season in management - Finished second in the First Division
Beat Rangers at Ibrox with Saints for the first time in 35 years
    Reached 2 semi-finals of the 2 cups
Second season finished second on the last day only to the financial muscle of Gretna by 1 last ditch goal by James Grady.
Beat - WBA, Fulham, Arsenal and Chelsea with Burnley.
Took Burnley through 63 games with a squad of 23 players in the Championship to the Premiership winning the richest game in World football with a squad assembled at the cost of £2.5 million.

Owen Coyle is going places fast.

Moyes is the only one with a CV that is a step up from WGS and MON of all the usual candidates.

Of the other usual ones I would be disappointed but could live with Mogga or Levein. Mogga because unlike Coyle he has plenty of SPL experience with Hibs, put together a stylish team at Hibs and was good with youth. He also has a little European experience and has at least sampled the top level EPL football in England. Levien is my favourite cheapy. A real solid SPL guy who has masses of experience at the top Scottish level and I think he has produced good teams playing good football with peanuts at Dundee United and Hearts.

    Spot on KennyDal :50:

Whoever gets appointed will get my full backing.

If Coyle is appointed are people going to be on his back right from the very start because they wanted someone else, doesn't say much of us as supporters if this is the case.

one good season in a nothing career as a player and manager. The good season is a scrape into 5th place in the championship. Good managers are like wine, they get better with time and he is far far too inexperienced. As I said, he is a Scottish 1stdivision guy whose had one good season where he steered a team to scrape 5th in the championship. Why are we even considering him. What about all the very experienced but unemplyed EPL managers??

What a load of bullshit. Coyle was a very good striker who played his heart out for every team he played for. I witnessed him first hand many times when i used to go to Partick Thistle games and he was in the opposing team. Just because he played at a lower level doesn't make him a "* player".

He's also shown good potential as a manager, taking a Burnley team with very limited resources to the EPL, going on two great cup runs. He also nearly got St Johnstone promoted against a megabucks Gretna side, and again went on a good cup run, only falling to Celtic after beaten Rangers at Ibrox.

If that's your attitude, you won't be missed as a Celtic fan.

one season. scrapes 5th in the championshio. Take that away and he is a Scottish 1st division guy. He has never managed in the SPL or EPL. At least Levein has done 2 good stints in the SPL where he got a lot of credit for he teams he built on limited sources. For me Coyle would be the biggest jump into the dark/total gamble based on nothing since we appointed Barnes.

As above - he took a squad of 23 players through 63 games beating 4 Premiership sides (2 top four) and spent £2.5 million doing it. Then won the richest game in football to take them to the Premiership.

He is treated like a * in Burnley, literally.

We'll just end up in turmoil every season for years if the fans don't start backing the team regardless of who is appointed. Coyle will do a good job if he gets the chance and people should start being a bit more open minded its not an impossible job. I think managing Burnley with no money in a tough league would be harder than managing Celtic with all the resources and the fact that if we beat Rangers four times we are a certainty to lift the league next year.

All he has to do is get the better of Walter Smith and I think he can do it.

Youve gotta admit that not havign ever managed in either of Britains top leagues is the sort of CV that should not even being looked at. We are Celtic FFS not Wigan or something. We can surely do better.

BTW-I take back the bit about giving up. I was just so stunned by even the suggestion of Coyle had been appointed.

There will be the boards logic in his appointment then.

people can have one off amazing seasons. To appoint on the basis of one season is crazy.

Also, it strongly suggests the board want a guy who can squeeze mediocre players into punching above their weight rather than investing.

ill back any manager appointed, wether its Coyle, Mobray (my choice) Levein, Billic whoever...

the fact is, not everyone will...

the fact fans were against the appomntment of Strachan in the first place didnt let him get off to a good start (and some of those fans still breather "oh...remember bratislava...")

listen, you will not get every celtic fan nodding and clapping with gee and approval over the appointment of a manager, the fact is everyone wants something different. i , personally want a style of football which would make me proud of being a celtic fan, others would prefer a manager that would sell their granny for a cup...thats their choice...wer never goin to agree...so we should just agree to disagree, and accept that anyone who the board decides to sign up for the role should be supported whole-hartedly and welcomed with open arms by all supporters...

since when did we become this fickle?

Dont really care if the new gaffer has played for us before or not. Wim Jansen healped beat us in a Euro final, had never palyed for us and look what happened.

If Mourinho was to be appointed Celtic manager, would you moan coz he has never played for us???? Would you *
