I agree that the GB certainly bring a bit of atmosphere to Celtic Park, I hope it continues for a long time, but please keep the politics out of football. We are all there to support Celtic, that should be our only cause !!!

I'm not sure if you're joking here. 'Ooh Ah, Up the Ra' is a song about justice?

Everyone has political views. Some have stronger ones than others. But to claim that Celtic is a club open to all, but then sing some of the stuff they sing etc makes a mockery of that.

We don't all share the same political views, we don't all share the same religion, we don't all share the same heritage etc. We do however, all share (I hope) a love for Celtic. So anything other than Celtic songs will be devisive among the support. If you're trying to unite the fans and get an atmosphere going, singing songs about anything other than Celtic will not achieve that.

Now this is a hypothetical situation here: What if I felt that persecution of Catholics in Scottish society was a direct result of seperate Catholic schools and thought that the best way to equality would be to get rid of them altogether and go for full intigration of religion and that level, or take religion out of schools altogether? Would it be fine for me to sings songs about closing Catholic Schools at Celtic Park?

I get the impression that a lot of people here who support the political chanting and whatnot are only fine with it because they share the same views and would be quick to condemn it if they didn't agree with it.

Go onto the Green Brigade website and it is slightly worrying. The threads are mainly about other left wing clubs, and politics.

I do think the noise they create, and banter is top notch. Go to any game and you want to be there, singing (the good songs) with them. But if all they want to achieve is putting over a political point, then they will not move very far.

Ultras as such should be die hard supporters of the club. Bringing to much politics into the game will not work.

Most ultras around the world are political. That's what its about... more than a football fan, its a lifestyle.

i had moved up to the Green Brigade at the Blackburn game to take in some of the better atmosphere in Parkhead. we had been debating wether atmosphere in Parkhead was going or it was an age thing. the atmosphere is definitely dying a little bit, seems like anything other than a huge game the Green Brigade are the only ones keeping it going. the other singing section - Jungle Bhoys? - might be doing a job up the other end too.

more people need to join with the Green Brigade in my opinion or at least initiate more singing groups.

regardless of the song type the people must sing! let the people sing!

The Green Brigade is a broad front of anti-fascist, anti-racist and anti-sectarian Celtic supporters of many faiths and backgrounds and does not endorse ANY political party or group in either Scotland or Ireland. All members support a 32-county Irish Socialist Republic and an Independent Scottish Socialist Republic in principle and the achievement of these ends using peaceful means of struggle.

I love what there doing, couldn't really care about the political side to it all, they create a great atmosphere to the stadium and will further do so this season with them having their own section :50:

i agree, most supporters are now boring, my bro came up from england went to a game and said he would never go back, i dont blame him as we use to go to the old jungle, where we sang and bounced for 90 mins

Slowly but surely, Lennon is bringing the thunder back mate. I know it may not seem like it at the home games in recent seasons, but you just need to look at the recent away games. The smoke bombs and the flares help to create an already great atmosphere. The away support were in full voice again today. If they can somehow transfer that atmosphere back to Celtic Park, then it will feel just like the good old Martin O'Neill days again.

A win against Rangers next Sunday would go a long way to bringing back some of the atmosphere to Paradise. It's been a while since we beat them at home and maybe that has something to do with no one really wanting to participate in the singing and jumping around now.
