Story wasn't up too much at all, few cringey moments too (wolf howling) but the visuals were brilliant. Could have been doing with more of Sandra Bullock floating about in her wee panties though.

    The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug

    * * hot. Massive step up from the first movie. Still doesnt live up to LOTR but imo Peter Jackson gives it a great shot, and puts the trilogy back on track.

Alot of people unhappy at how it differs from the book, which it does, but most if not all of the differences I was happy to welcome. The pace of the movie is FAR better and the action is phenomenal.

Still believe it should have been done in two films though, but the more middle earth I get to see on the big screen the better. Looking forward to next year a * of a lot.

Oh and Smaug is a * badass.

2 Guns. Enjoyed it. Two of my favourite actors in it. I think Wahlberg is class in most films and big Denzel is just a legend

Watched "The Hurricane" last night again, one of the best films you'll ever see - Washington is outstanding.

Watched "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" - thought it was great. Few funny moments, like the fact he has diabetes from the witch making him eat too many sweeties when he was a kid :smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002:

And as usual, Gemma Arterton is smoking :100:

Prince of Persia is pretty good if you're looking for another Gemma Arterton fix!

Just watched Don Jon, so right now I have "Good Vibrations" stuck in my head... what a tune :smiley-laughing002:

Anyway I think Julianne Moore saved this movie. She performed well at the end when the movie actually gave some meaningful points. She seemed more "easy going" than the other two, she had a major role which could have been seen as clichéd if not done so well by her. Gordon-Levitt and Johansson (who is forever uninteresting) could have been replaced pretty easily by other actors.

Give Gordon-Levitt credit for his writing here. He sets up this "game" with strict rules in which he lives and slowly unravels it to give a good message at the end.

All the scenes with Jon's family reminded me of Robert De Niro in Silver Linings Playbook. That's not to say those scenes were bad, they had a meaning but they seemed to be modelled on that and kind of unoriginal.

V/H/S 2. What a load of *. The first one was pretty decent, but the second was just pure garbage.
