I don't think anyone thinks £5m is a lot in world football. It's peanuts.

But for Celtic it's a lot. From what I can tell we've paid more than that on 8 occasions. I agree that we should be spending more on players now and move with the times, but it just won't happen. So in that case, spending making Idah only our 9th purchase for £5m or more seems a bit mental.

 

For this board it's alot but as Celtic as a club Celtic can easily afford and remember we spent £9 million on Édouard and with this new champions league format coming in I hope this board show a bit of ambition and bring in the quality players the manager and the support want .

 

Massive props to him for making a decent enough impact during his time here so far.

But as things stand, I don't want him here permanently. Hopefully leaves with our best wishes and a couple of winner's medals.

We need better in the long run. That's the brutal truth.

 

We need to be signing 2 strikers this summer, along with keeping Kyogo. No more of this projects, especially if we win the league and gets straight into the champions league. If it wasn’t of Idah, we would be out of the title race. If he costs £5 million then so be it, not like we will be short of cash

 

Obviously what we need team wise isn't going to be the same every summer. This summer clearly will see a large amount of activity. But IMHO under our present financial position we should be spending in the 5-8m bracket on 1 or 2 players pretty much every summer.

 

Get them down to £4m, and it's a yes from me.

£4m was always going to be my cutoff for Idah.

I want Miovski. £5m is cheaper than I thought for Idah, to be fair.

Definitely think we could negotiate that price. Get them down to £3.5m-£4m with a decent sell on and they might cave.

No really fussed about the numbers mate, if Rodgers is confident he can get the guy to a level he's happy with then that's what maters. Idah has certainly got all the tools, just a matter of utilising them properly.

Guy could end up being a bargain at 10 million, or another waste of 4 million. Only one way to find out....negotiate the best deal we can get and give him the space to improve.

We'll have going on over £100m in the bank. We have no financial worries with any cut offs this season.

 

See tbh, I think for that money, you could go to the continent and find better quality. Yes, there’s the adaptation to another league/culture that you don’t have to consider with Idah/Miovski, but I think it’s worth taking that risk, at least for one of them: Idah in particular; I like him, but I’m pretty convinced we could get better elsewhere at that price point.

 

Unless we have serious roots in Asia, Amercias or Africa to find random new talent, I don't think there is much we can get that would a serious improvement on either Idah or Miovski at the same price points within Europe.

Unless we go for the "easy" route of loaning talents from mega clubs that hoard talent like the Man City and PSGs of the worlds or again, try to get hold of talents from recognised, well oiled talent factories like Benfica or maybe other clubs like that.

£10 mill all in together with their wage demands as well and to me, we'd have done smart business getting Idah and Miovski with Oh going out to Aberdeen

 

It all might just be rumour but if Feyenoord are actually interested in Miovski I can see Aberdeen getting really good money for him.

With Slot leaving Feyenoord, I can see him taking a couple from Hancko, Hartmann, Geertriuba or Wieffer with him to Liverpool and the striker Gimenez will go for real big money somewhere. They will likely get well over £100m of fees in this summer. They also showed last summer selling a couple of players for good money they are willing to reinvest so if you give them three times that income I could see them easily pay £7 or 8m for Miovski.

 

But we do. Everyone does.
