Part of the plans of the hotel was to have a celtic museum & trophy room as part of it.

There was a thread on the huddleboard the other week saying that the hotel will be started end of the year, rotating screen will go ahead but part of a bigger plan and finally that we are drawing plans for modernising the main stand. This would be to improve facilities, underground coach park so we could host a European final and finally increase the capacity upto 67,000. Could be bullshit but makes sense as to why we are stockpiling cash.

I'm not clued up enough on what is required to be able to host a European Final but if it involves underground access for the team buses etc I can't see the cost of that being worthwhile to host a final or two tbh. Think the other problem is the front is a listed building is it not ? which would make alterations difficult.

This would be a good shout.

I'd love to see something similar to Man City's Etihad Campus where all the training areas and facilities are right beside the stadium. Obviously the cost to purchase land, zoning problems, etc would make this almost impossible.

Don’t get wanting a bigger stadium. Many, many people with a ST will pack it and the big waiting list will dry up after the 10 I believe. We don’t need more than 60,000 IMO

There would need to be new foundations dug anyway to rebuild the stand anyway so an underground coach park should be straight forward enough and not be that costly. Not sure on your last point either, it may all be * anyway but thought I’d mention it.

Re building the main stand would be impossible due to the electricity pylons...……….:)

    away tae f... :celt_2:

you honestly think folk will stop going to Parkheid after the 10.
...and what about the 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and aw' the doubles and trebles coming our way.

    60,000 is enough.??
Many, many folks are looking for ST's and then there's europe, may that be EL, or CL.
Celtic park in a european night, if the capacity was there, could easily fill ~75,000 seats.

More european away fans can come here, or home fans, whatever it is = bigger revenue.
    win/win

Granted, for league games not so much but, you could always fill the other empty/ish parts with Tifo's.

He has a point. When we do the ten and they die for good, it’ll be back to the Ronnie days unless we get some sort of European league or access to the CL proper

Playing devil's advocate though things can change. It wasn't very long ago you literally couldn't give your season card away for the vast majority of our games. Can you build/improve a stadium just for CL games ( especially when qualification isn't guaranteed.)? When there was no DOBs in the league there were 1,000's of empty seats for the majority of games.

Decent idea but I'm not sure why we'd do it for a poet that's been dead for over 80 years.

I like the idea of completing the 'bowl', but that's largely based on the current set-up bugging the * oot o ma OCD.

60k capacity is fine. Full stadiums are a splendid thing, and yes, we could probably crack crowds of 75k on big Euro nights, but otherwise it would be a patchy support... and patchy stadiums suck baws!

Id like to see the stadium as a complete structure, adding another tier make it a complete bowl.

It allows for more ST's and also the addituon of a retractable roof for the * winter.

Also * paint those poles ffs.

Am I the only one who likes the current shape? Does anyone here know the names of different types of symmetry in architecture?
For me, the fact that it lacks one kind of symmetry (radial symmetry???*) actually accentuates another kind (bilateral symmetry????*), especially given that the main stand is kind of the front.

    * I know nothing about architecture, so my guesses are based on half-remembered biology lectures at uni 20 years ago. They're probably wrong. I'd genuinely be interested in knowing the correct terms from any architects or mathematicians (@The Prof ) on here.
