This is the main problem for me. For all the talk of formations and switching it's bullshit. In the spl we can play teams off the park 99% of the time, on a good day. In Europe or in a must win in Scotland against a decent side, that just won't work all of the time. We need a solid defence that is hard as * to break down. Forget the 9 million Eduoard money, that money should have spent on a back 4 and Goalie. (Big money is made there instead of diddy strikers) You then buy or loan a striker or strikers that can hold the ball up under pressure and play others in. The SPL is a write off unless we * It up. We are one of the Worlds biggest Clubs and We need to stop being Cannon fodder in Europe. We are better than that.

Have no conceded this year except the 2 against Valencia, for me defence is not the issue, for us to compete against better footballing teams we need that out ball we had with like Sutton, Hartson, JVoH, otherwise we are under too much pressure trying to retain the ball to break a much better team down, we also lack any threat from set pieces, when we get a corner who actually see's that as a chance for us anymore? Or balls into the box period? We don't have the players where we can throw the dice if our normal style is not working.

we’ve hardly had the hardest of games this year except from valencia have we? Bains being overhyped, he should of collected that ball easily from the second goal, and his passing might be good but that shouldn’t be the main quality of a Goalkeeper. I agree with the original poster that money should’ve been spent on a new keeper and defenders, we are overloaded with attacking options yet we are needing to play hayes at LB. And there was no communication or organisation in the defence especially for the first goal. We played well first 15 minutes on thursday, passing was good and we were pressing well off the ball, after the 15 minute mark our arses dropped and handed them the game, they were nothing special on the night. I would be happy with a goal next week, something for the fans travelling over to cheer about, just don’t go over with our heads down and hand them an easy game.

Édouard is quality.. just needs to add some bits to his game..

Our defensive recruitment has been a shambles tho..

But with BR the onus was alway going to be on attack.

We rely too heavily on passing through teams who mostly are better at this and pressing , we should have players who we can use to change our style and make us more compact and harder to break down against the big 4 nations in europe ,would be great to have a threat at free kicks and corners ,its a dimension we are missing and should always be good for 10 points a season.,turning draws into wins or losses into draws .
Would love to see br stay for another 3 year and try to progress us in europe by adapting our style when it suits to do so ,we are a fair bit off and have lost vital players ,his first season we looked like just bellow top 6 epl , at that time i didnt fear any teams in cl and felt we had a chance ,although we have probably done better in europe by sitting in and having more imposing players in attack .
