Nobody can tell you how much of a fanatic you are, only you know how Celtic make you feel.

Someone could have a ST, yet spend the 90 minutes moaning, checking their phone and abusing the players, while someone in Canada is jumping around their living room at 5am celebrating goals.

Those that can should, if circumstances/finances dictate otherwise then it shouldn't make you any less of fan.

I think a lot of people stopped going because although they could afford to go, they just dont see value for money. Or they are just sick of the rampant commercialism in the game.

Id say I definately fall into that camp. I got out of the habit of going because I couldnt afford it. Now I can afford it but it is no longer a priority for me. I feel an affinity with the ethos of the club and I have an emotional connection due to the family ties connected with supporting the club in the past. But celtic and modern football counldnt give a toss about pricing out fans. Even things like charging a 'booking fee' to buy a ticket or charging two quid for a coke just * me off. Clubs treat fans as consumers when it suits and then promotes the idea of being 'part of a club' when it suits.

I think many people still love the club but are turned off by the money involved, regardless of whether they can afford it. I completely understand why people may still be passionate about the team but chose not to go every week.

    I think it depends.

There are folk who don't even bother to watch some games. And I don't mean they're abroad/working. They just don't bother with the games.

Not a massive fan of him but I'd say that Paul the Tim is a bigger fan than me. He goes to everything. I'd definitely say there's different levels of fan.

In the introduce yourself thread I mentioned I live in Dublin & from the mid 90's when I started working till the end of Strachan reign I'd say I averaged 5 visits per season. All Celtic park games. Lge & champ lge.

Money, work, playing sport (reasonable junior level) & family all just slowed down the visits. December last year being my most recent.

No conversation, with lads I've met at the ground or in the pubs around it or anywhere on my trips I've ever had, has made me feel any less of a fan. Not sure I'd know what to say or how to engage with someone if it was ever brought up that I'm not a 'real fan' due to my attendance record. Leave them to their opinion I guess.
Probably all comes down to your personal definition of what a fan/supporter/follower is.

Although I'm delighted to say I'm getting over Dec 17 for the Dundee match with my two lads aged 5&7. Their first game. Hopefully it won't be the only one this season.

We're all Tims anyway so who gives a *!!

I've actually thought about this a bit since i gave up my season ticket a few year back and probably the main thing that's changed is i'm slightly more reluctant to get stuck into our players now! A lot of debate on here about players is between guys watching on the box (like me) and others at the match!! I use to tape a lot of big games when i was at the match and when i watched it later i thought i was watching a different game sometimes. The box, for example, will not always pick up the shift a guy puts in when you thought he had a great game.

Need to get to a match soon so i can see all the work Biton is putting in that i'm missing!!!:fear:

ps- one thing i forgot to add and i think it's unforgiveable is booing one of our before he comes on the park and yes i've heard it in the past, not recently though. Anyone that does that i would question their loyalty and support....* right i would!!

I know how much of a Celtic supporter I am and how much the club means to me, and I couldn't give a * what anyone else thinks.

I'd rather feed and clothe my family before a season ticket....that make me less of a fan?

I gave a season ticket up when henke left....so I'm half a fan

My favourite fans are the ones who cheer the team on the whole game, even when complaining about a mistake it's constructive criticism and they never stop encouraging the team by shouting or singing non stop.

Absolute nonsense, and not even an argument.

Does that mean my boyfriend is more of a supporter than those in the standard seats as he is in the 'Investors Area' lol. You don't need to flash your cash and break away from many other activities to attend every game to be classed as 'more of a supporter'.

I don't care what any banger thinks I support Celtic and only get to one or two games a season. I like to think I done my apprentice from the early 70, s to around 1990 and must be been to hundreds of matches.

Ah a "who can * the highest competition"

Or is it "my dad is bigger than your dad"?

So essentially the arguement is I go to the game s so i spend more money/time and that makes me better than you arguement.

    Its all bullshit.

You love things with your heart not your wallet.

Measure your obsession not your outlay.

The guy that goes to the game might watch it once, the guy that sits in the house might have watched it twice before the guy at the game even gets hame.

Its a stupid question, borderline trolling and somewhat elitist too.

The money arguement is more bullshit.

What if you have no disposable income, dont spend one penny on the club but watch every game you can and kick every ball this makes you less of a supporter?
