I've not read this thread for ages. Don't recognize most of the names on there from last season. Are those guys who've come up through the Academy?

Good to hear Aitchison is still putting them away. It sounds like he might be the real deal. That was said about Nesbitt though and it's sad to hear we sold him, I thought he just went down south on loan. Best of luck to him.

Wonder how Crossan is getting on at Alloa. Only couple times I seen him he looked to have great feet.

Also good to hear Roberts was playing, will be good to see him back in the first team soon even though Forrest is doing great.

We signed an Australian Leo Mazis, sounds a bit like a pretty famous player. Is he good?

Who is our current most promising player in the Development Squad?

From what I've seen Mickey Johnstone. Hopefully just had a bad injury once and he's not a bit of a crock as he's out for the season. Happy for others to correct

Oh aye that's right, he's played for the first team this season hasn't he? I'm sure I seen him and he looked good, very positive player with skills to be dangerous and brilliant linking up with forwards.

Shame he got injured, I didn't know that. As you say, hope he makes a full recovery and it hasn't affected him at all.

CELTIC are delighted to confirm that promising defender Stephen Welsh has signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay until June 2020.

The 18-year-old has been a mainstay for the Development Side this season since moving up from the Under-17s in the summer. His consistent performances at club level have been rewarded with international recognition at various age levels for the Scotland national side.

And on Monday, the centre-half was named in the Scotland U19 squad for the UEFA European Championship elite round, alongside five of his Celtic team-mates.

Having put pen to paper on his new deal, Welsh will now look to continue his development and aim to become the next Celtic Youth Academy player to break into the first-team.

CELTIC’S SFA Youth Cup semi-final against Hibernian will take place at the Hibernian Training Centre on Thursday, April 5 (KO: 12noon).

The Bhoys, who are aiming to defend the silverware, have reached the last four of the competition in emphatic style, not conceding a goal in thumping wins over Alloa, Raith Rovers and St Johnstone.

And Tommy McIntyre’s team will be hoping to maintain that impressive form when they go head-to-head with the Easter Road side for a place in the Hampden showpiece.

Details on whether fans can attend the match will be announced in due course.

Just lost 1-0 against Motherwell. Might be off here but it feels like the development team has been pretty poor this season.

Its probably because the best young players have been loaned out.

Most of those on loan have been about for a few years. Feels like those coming through now are struggling to make the grade as a collective.
