As my daughter is 22 now and working, we don't go birding as much now, but you're right mate, BRILLIANT days. Birdwatching all over Scotland was so special. My wife and I still go for walks along the banks of the River Clyde. We've had some great sightings too.

I absolutely LOVE the watches. I've not seen Autumnwatch yet as I've been really busy, but I've finally got a bit of time to watch them tonight. Can't wait. I think it's a good idea for the 'Watch to go somewhere else for a change. I love seeing other country's wildlife.

The best sighting I got in our garden was seeing a flock of Waxwings on one of out trees. We were no more than a couple of feet away from them. what a day that was. Other than the usual garden birds we see, we had a superb female Sparrowhawk sitting on our fence watching our birdfeeders. All the smaller birds must have known it was there, as they stayed away from the feeders until it left. My daughter and I watched the action for about 40 minutes. Another superb day.

Shifted a snake out the front garden the other day.

Pinned it with a pool cue rest, manoeuvred it into an old Christmas sack and drove it down to the closest nature reserve holding the sack out the car window.. :giggle1:

That's the beauty of nature mate. If you go out and about, you can get these experiences. Too many people don't know what beauty lives so close to them, even in the cities. It's a passion of mine that my daughter has embraced big time. She loves all nature, except for Elephants. She can't stand them. My son isn't too keen though. No matter what we try, he's not having it. His loss, we tell him.

That's a horror movie right there for us. I'd love to see people's reactions when they see a man and his daughter running away screaming like babies.

She's now 22, so we don't go birding much anymore as she's working, but we did nearly all her life. We still have a great love of nature, and are always on the look out for birds, mammals etc. There's been times when she's out, she's phoned or texted me to tell me she's seen something. She still has the passion for it. It's something she'll never lose.
