Saw one of these in my yard today...

    Australian swamp snake - Bing

The first time I saw one I caught it and put it in a box, and called the local wildlife wranglers, thinking it was a baby Eastern Brown Snake (highly dangerous). Turned out it was a Swampy which will give you a nasty bite but won't kill you.

Like all Australians, I far prefer to have the really dangerous critters on my property.

This morning on my local patch i was delighted to see a cool Male Goshawk.First one of this ultra cool species since Mid Feb 2019!!!
They are very scarce on my patch but far more regular in the Forests further a field.
Also 2 migrating Grey Wagtails flew over calling. And I did not see a single other species of Raptor which was a surprise.

What a sighting that is my good friend. A Goshawk is a very special sighting. I've been lucky enough to see this special bird twice in my life. Superb birds.

I had a walk along the beach at Skreen on Saturday morning, there was a large flock of (i think) Plovers there, maybe John or Pete could I.D. them, there seems to be 3 different breeds, or maybe 2 breeds and a flock of juveniles? rsz_1img_8218.jpg rsz_2img_8200.jpg

You have hit a mini Jackpot here Johnie,as my Good friend johnbhoy19 said Dunlin,Ringed Plover and Sanderling(they are the ones largely white) But if you check the photo of the waders in flight the bird 3rd from the left has a very obvious white rump and is a cool Curlew Sandpiper:50:

    PS Great photos of course!!

Also @cidermaster , I think the 2 wee sparrows have moved into the bird box they nested in the summer , am I seeing and hearing things ?

Yes Scotia a number of bird species frequently check their nest sights outside the breeding season, often repairing, checking for parasites or enforcing the bond of their Breeding home:50:
