Aye when it's sunny the neds come out, but the older alkies who drink down at the burn are harmless and always brand new in fact I got asked out by one of them mind you he couldn't stand up he was that pished so didn't really take it as a compliment, was chatted up by a one eyed taxi driver a few years ago as well so that says it all really :56:

I've seen the deer at the Saltings but they're so easily spooked I can never get a picture, have you seen the terrapins at the canal, just after the metal bridge going towards Clydebank I've been seeing them for years keep your eyes peeled on a sunny day they like basking

The thing with 2nd hand camera gear is whoever previously owned it probably looked after it as it was in their interest to keep it in order, if you can find someone nearhand selling canon gear, meet them somewhere so you can have a look before you buy it.

That's one video I won't be watching Susan. I remember a few years ago Caroline did the same thing. She kept a couple of caterpillars in a jar, and they cocooned , hanging down, attached to the lid. I couldn't look at them. The day they hatched. I was well clear.

Keep forgetting about your phobia John I looked it up and it's called Lepidopterophobia and is more common than you would think my phobia is heights can't go on high bridges, go on an aeroplane even when I'm decorating can't go too far up the ladder without getting dizzy, we're a right pair

Yes Susan, most probably an Escapee,a number escape every year including down here in North Wales.Over the last 20 years a 2 Great Horned Owls and 2 Eurasian Eagles Owls have escaped from a Small Wildlife Park 2 miles from my home.Thankfully all were safely recaptured after being out for a good few weeks or more.
The Eurasian Eagle Owl in that cool footage is one of the World's Biggest Owls and are capable of killing Foxes,Cats,Geese,Buzzards,Herring Gulls,Goshawks,Pine Martins, other Owls,Crows, even young Roe Deer among the bigger prey.Though in areas of plenty of Rabbits,Hares and Rats, they would be a huge part of it's diet and medium sized birds.
A small number of these Magnificent Birds breed in locations scattered in the British Isles, these have generally escaped or been released, though it is thought some birds have arrived on their own steam from mainland Europe. In the past they were regular Breeders in the British Isles.Open Forest,Rocky open Country with some tree cover,Moorland near Forest and Forests being they favourite habitat, but escapees may favour Towns and Parks.
They can be up to 30 inches long, have a 6 foot Wing Span and weigh up to 4 Kilos!! They do not always have it their own way,as Golden Eagles and White Tailed Eagles sometimes take them as prey.
I could go and on as i love Eagle Owls and all Owls.

That was a very good read Pete you can tell you love them just from the enthusiasm of your post, wow they must be massive if that's the kind of prey they hunt hopefully it flies to my neck of the woods for me to get a picture :)
