Pretty quiet in my local area but a Wheatear passed through at lunchtime today, signs that nature already had Autumn on her mind.
Yesterday a female Redstart passed through and a patrolling female Sparrowhawk was noted.
It has been a great year for Gatekeeper butterflies in my local patch, these Orange gems are all over the show.

Went out for a big walk on my local patch this morning with Ruby Roo of course very early to avoid today’s Heatwave with my nephew and his dog Basil,Ruby Roo’s Cousins Of course.
On the whole pretty quiet but a 7.09am,well into the walk we got a cracking view of a big Boar Badger,a good 30 pounder. This was the first Badger my nephew and Basil had ever seen, hard to say who was the most excited!!:84:
We actually heard it first walking behind us as we sat on some rocks to give the dogs some water, quite heavy footsteps, for a split second I thought it was a Sheep or something such was the power walking. We all looked at the same time, the Big Boar Badger went past us and stopped and looked at us all then bolted, they cannot half move when they want to.
Oh yesterday at the same spot 2 Red Kite flew overhead.

That's a special day good friend. I've never seen a badger, but I've heard one snore. AT a local wildlife spot, Caroline and I came across a Badger's sett. It was during the day so no hope of seeing one. We snuck up to it, and ,amazingly, we heard snoring. We went back a few times just before Sunset, during the night and just before Sunrise and seen NOTHING. Footprints aplenty, but no badgers. The sett has now been re-allocated so now that chance to see one has gone. Really near to my home as well.

Over the last week at work , I was lucky enough to spot a Sparrowhawk . It took flight just after I saw it , it appeared to be carrying off a lump of moss . But it could have been something else . I also had a really good sighting of a Red Squirrel . It came down from a large tree , and remained stationary on the ground for a while . It then bolted away to some bushes , and I lost sight of it .

Sounds like a good place to work mate. I wouldn't be able to concentrate at work if I knew all that wildlife was outside.
