I think White-Tailed Sea Eagles are one of the best wild-life sightings, if not the best, in Britain. Stunningly beautiful, and fukin' massive as well. I remember the first time my wife saw one. I still laugh when I think about what she said to me that day; "It's quite big, isn't it?"

Today on my local patch with Ruby Roo of course in what appeared to be a very quiet outing, ended up with a neat wee list.
2 different female Redstarts were noted. The local Male Peregrine was in the air with a local Buzzard. A family party of 5 Bullfinch was a delightful sight. 6 Chough were noted atleast 2 weee Juvs.
2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers flew right over me and I got a mega close up of a Male Blackcap.

Yes good friend they do not have the nick name Flying Barn Door for nothing:50:
The females are a bit larger than the males of course which are big enough. Males have a wing span of 7 feet, females over 7 and a half feet, sometimes reaching 8 feet!!!
    Magnificent birds indeed:84:

I remember seeing one getting mobbed by a couple of Buzzards. The Buzzards looked tiny in comparison. I never tire of seeing these birds.

Another beautiful bird good friend, the Merlin. And the Kestrel is one of the main reasons my daughter Caroline and I got into birdwatching in a big way. We saw one flying about our area. We followed it , as best we could, and watched it hovering and hunting. We had a great day, and couldn't stop talking about it when we got home. we went out every day after that for about 2 weeks to try and see it again. We only saw it a couple of times in those 2 weeks, but what we did see was all the wild-life and birdlife that was so near to our home. It's a passion for wild-life Caroline still has, and she thanks me every so often for giving her that passion. All thanks to a Kestrel.

Seriously I couldn't think of any way to get in touch as I couldn't sign in and I couldn't message anyone because I couldn't sign in .........maybe I've taken anonymity too far :56:I suddenly thought of twitter and facebook. I'm an active twitterer and I only keep the fb for news in my locality and for my hobbies :52: I don't do all the befriending stuff which doesn't help. I thought that I didn't really need either to validate my existence :56:I gave it one last shot last night and took the chance Marie used her fb :36:

It was all hubbys fault you know :37: He wanted me to connect him via his new phone and as I sign in automatically having saved the password etc I thought I would remember. Turns out the email I used is a decade out of date :52: and once I tried to sign in a couple of times I seem to have been wiped and it kept coming up no user with that name :97: I thought I would go mental trying to sort it!

It's a great gift your dad gave you Susan. The gift of a love of nature is so much better than any material gift. It truly is the gift that keeps on giving.
