Your matchday superstitions?

Just a bit of levity after last nights slap to the chops...

Any of you ghuys/ ghirls as * mental as me?

I have a specific set of rules that I adhere to when watching a game, been a few years since i was back at CP with work and then covid... But my mental and downright illogical superstitions still hold fast;

- When at CP, I always wear the FIRST scarf my da bought me, along with the badge i bought myself at my first ever game. Believe it or not, even after sharing a season ticket with my oul one for 6 years... Ive NEVER seen Celtic beaten at CP, in ANY competition. (Ive only been to 3 european games in my entire puff). So I panic like * if I go home and my ma has been faffing about with my boxes of *!

- If we are level and get scored against... Ill turn off the game completely, for at least 5 minutes, believing that ME watching it is a source of bad luck. Believe it or not, more often than not, when i turn it back on...weve equalised. Never in "rangers games" though ffs.

- My girl has to leave my apartment when i watch a live match. Its not weird or sexist... I just think shes a * scud.

- I REFUSE to place ANY bet on Celtic. Even an oul accumulator. Any time I do, we * lose.

- If we desperately need a goal, i will silently pray, then pray again, apologising for the "trivial" prayer for a goal, in the hopes that apology will yeild a "* it he apologised" pity goal from whatever diety is pulling the imagined strings.

- I wont eat ANYTHING at CP. I went for a pie once, came back and hibs had equalised. Game finished 1-1.

- I won't wear a Celtic shirt during a game at my own apartment. I have it in my head that "*" likes to laugh at my expense, by making me look stupid, sitting there in my shirt, dejected after a * result

Never bet for Celtic or bet against the huns

I only wear my hoops when we're playing, 2nd or 3rd strips on match day are a jinx.

Never wear my colours when we play the huns.

I bought my wee maw a stone for her 90th birthday. It's right behind Bros Walfrids statue. Also go to it before I enter the stadium and say a wee prayer for her whilst asking for a win. A wee kiss from me to seal the deal....

The Mrs gets chased from the room if we ever get a penalty. If it's the huns we're playing she's banished for the full 90mins.

 

Never bet on or against us
Always wear my lucky pants (just so happens they’re the wife’s knickers)
Always have 2 pints in town and a chippy walking up to the game
Always have a half bottle of tonic behind the rangers end in the wee park and another at half time
Every home game I’ve been doing that since standing section opened
Oh and I still wear my first ever scarf that I got in ‘74

and not so much a match day superstition but I’ve only ever used green tooth brushes since the 80’s

 

Every home game that I've had less than three pints in the old black bull before we've lost. So I have four just to be sure.

 

I only do superstitious stuff when we are playing the huns. I always make sure my wife is wearing her green knickers, I always have a fry up, always get the reb tunes on, always get a phone call from California at crazy time in the morning and always wear the same scarf I've had for years. Apart from that, nothing really

 

So is @LectersLuncheon. He’s not even said anything unusual IMO.

 

Always kiss the badge on my shirt and tap it three times, followed by "C'mon the Bhoys".

 

Wake up early drink a couple of cans of beer.

Have a couple of rolls.


Nothing too crazy

 

Knee slide into the gates in the lions stand. Robbie Keane gun roll into my seat and a final broony before I sit down. Not failed me yet

 

* i forgot... I probably get pelters for this too...

But i will only drink pre match pints in....

Jokes aside this is more akin to OCD than mere superstition…

 

If I don't stick my * in the toaster Celtic always drop points.

Aye I know, I was taking the * tbh. More accurate would be to say I’m not superstitious.

Have to have a shower before watching our games,even if I have to miss first 5-10 minutes.Never got home from work til half 9 on Wednesday hence the result,imo
