I wouldn't want to join the EPL, but id consider options which would make us a far more profitible club.

Especially after last season where miss spending £10-15m, which is pocket change to most top tier teams in Europe, absolutely crippled our season.

The size of our stadium plus the massive support at home 'deserve' much more in a game which has becomed driven so much by money.

The * irony of chelsea fans gathering in west London to complain about the greed of abramovich
Without him they would be up there with Fulham etc for size in London. Ffs even palace would be a bigger club than them. Mid table mediocrity with the odd relegation fight would be their limit
The only person coming out of this in good light in my eyes is guardiola and his criticism of his employers while still in a job...can’t argue with his point that football would no longer be a sport if you have a league with no relegation allowed for the majority of teams
Say the league did go ahead and on top of the founder members 2 other teams are ‘promoted’. What happens if they 2 other teams come 1st and 2nd. Do they just do away with relegation until those 2 teams fail

RANGERS and Celtic are wanted to join a British League - as part of the fall-out of the failed Euro breakaway plot.

While England’s Big Six led the humiliating retreat from the Super League debacle, they remain convinced reform of the Premier League is essential.

Top of the list is an offer to the Old Firm clubs to move south to a new-look league.

And unlike the Super League shambles, which was condemned across the game, it is likely an enlarged Premier League including Gers and Celts would be BACKED by Fifa, Uefa and the UK Government.

Rangers and Celtic could grab a lucrative slice of the Premier League cake, while their inclusion would also see a spike in interest from fans across the world, as well as sponsors and broadcasters.

One club source south of the border said: “Whether or not the European Super League was going to happen, we all feel the Premier League has to be changed and improved.

It is time we opened it up to Rangers and Celtic. That would make sense for everyone.”

Reform of the Premier League has been a huge discussion point since October’s publication of the Project Big Picture plans which were drafted by Liverpool and Manchester United.

EPL chief executive Richard Masters was forced to agree to a “strategic review” of the competition’s future, conceding “the status quo is not an option

The review was conducted by US-owned Boston Consulting and is due to report back to England’s top 20 clubs in June.

But while the Big Six were battered by the ESL backlash this week, they believe there is an appetite for change.

In addition to the Old Firm plan, one other idea is an end-of-season top-four play-off, similar to those in rugby union and rugby league in England.

They are also still pushing for a reduction from 20 to 18 teams in the top flight.

Another club chief said: “We have never wavered from the belief that 18 clubs is the only sensible way forward.

“It is also what Uefa, Fifa and the European Club Association have long called for.”

That may be a proposal too far for the 14 other Premier League clubs who ganged up to help win the Super League battle against the Big Six.

But unlike the doomed Super League, there would be global backing for a British League.

Fifa president Gianni Infantino gave his blessing for cross-border leagues when asked about proposals for mergers between Holland and Belgium, and also in Mexico and the MLS.

Infantino said: “If we want teams to play at the highest level around the world, we need to have new ideas and we need to see that."

Earlier this season, Celtic's majority shareholder Dermot Desmond predicted a changing football landscape could open the door for the Old Firm to join a “British Premier League”.

He said: “Everything now is about the size of clubs and their followings.

"It’s become a digital world – streaming, Zoom. This pandemic has changed things.

Now, what are we going to see with football?

"Will we see clubs sell their own international rights, take more control of their finances internationally?

“If that’s the case, because you know the top clubs in England want to control their international rights, those rights will be far more valuable if they’re playing against Celtic and Rangers.

“Celtic and Rangers are in the top eight clubs in Great Britain by any metric – support, attendance, international appeal.

“At some stage, there’s going to be the realisation that if they want to maximise their revenues, then there’ll be a British Premier League.”

Nah mate, after the outcry over the European super league it doesn't feel right us * off and leaving the rest of Scotland. If we're gonna integrate they've gotta do the whole league

I'd be more keen to integrate with other smaller leagues anyway

Peter Lawwell's last action as the unseen * hand.

Whisper sweet nothings into the ears of the esl clubs, have it collapse for it to lead to Celtic being supposedly invited to create a British league.

Giving his paymaster DD the one thing he always wanted.

In all seriousness though if a British league were to be done.

It needs to be, well, all of Britains clubs...

Let it be under no doubt either, if celtic were to join the epl or British league. DD would sell within a heartbeat to mad crazy billionaire and it would ruin the very fabric of this club.

If this offer was to be put on the table Celtic and Rangers should state that if they come as part of any deal the sky deal stays in place for the same money for 5 years after which time if skyb renegotiate a lesser Scottish football deal the English FA have tonmake up the e shortfall of cash givento scottish football

Would prefer an alternative to getting involved with English football, it is DD’s dream and the reason he bought into Celtic so he’ll do everything in his power to see it through only about 20 years later.

British league is logical, Aberdeen hearts and hibs would slot in the championship the rest would fit nicely in league 1 and 2, their finances would be healthier playing in a larger league with more teams, us and the huns would naturally fit in the British premier league, it would be tough for a few years to adapt but the type of player we could attract and see in a Celtic shirt is something we’re never going to attract in our current league

So we'd be competing in Europe under the butcher's apron? :sicksmile:sicksmile:sicksmile

I'd rather a European League than a British one.

Barcelona do it under the Spanish crown. Wouldnt bother me along as I seen us competing again in Europe.

Were already an Irish club competing in Scotland. (The way I see it anyway). So anyone saying playing in a Brit League would alter our Identity then I just don't feel it would.

Don't expect a british league to manifest as they are looking to reduce the numbers in the epl not increase them. If it were to happen we'd be lucky to start in the championship and would end up stuck there for a number of years
