It would be a travesty for the Unionist minority if they had to acknowledge the majority of the island,or even worse - their own Irish heritage.

They actually use 'Londonderry Air' for the Comm games, not Danny Boy.

There have been calls for * Save The Queen to be dropped as the national anthem of the Northern Ireland football team because it alienates Catholic players.
Scotland and Wales have their own anthems but the Irish have the same one as England.
Now two former players say it deters nationalists from supporting and playing for the team.
In a country divided between a majority who consider themselves loyal to Britain and a minority who identify themselves as Irish nationalists, it is not surprising that some players may be reluctant to sing Britain's national anthem.
But, for the first time, a former player has spoken out about the issue and urged the country's football bosses to come up with an alternative.
Paul McVeigh says he was proud to play 20 times for Northern Ireland even though he was brought up in a Catholic neighborhood in Belfast where many of his friends preferred to support the Republic of Ireland football team.
He says one of the reasons behind this is that they feel alienated by the pre-match singing.
He told Sky News: "It's not their national anthem. * Save The Queen is the England national anthem. That's a problem for anyone coming from the nationalist community."
He points out that Scots and Welsh fans have their own songs to differentiate them from English football supporters, and says the Irish Football Association need to do something about it.
He says it is a taboo subject which few people want to discuss openly, but the matter has been brought to a head because several Catholic players such as Manchester United's Darren Gibson have opted to defect from Northern Ireland to the Republic.
"The anthem is the one sticking point that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. It could be a reason for someone not to play for Northern Ireland and really we want to encourage young players coming through to want to play for Northern Ireland," Mr McVeigh said.
The Irish Football Association (IFA) has recruited another former international to act as a mentor to young Catholic players and stop them being poached by their rivals in Dublin.
Gerry Armstrong grew up in Republican West Belfast, but became a Northern Ireland legend by scoring the goal which beat hosts Spain in the 1982 World Cup Finals.
He says: "I didn't actually see it as a big issue but over the last four months it has obviously grown.
"I've spoken to a lot of nationalist families and kids who play and represent Northern Ireland at under-17, under-19, and under-21 level, and obviously it is an issue that needs to be discussed."
However, the IFA are reluctant to do so for fear of a backlash from loyalist supporters who want to keep the anthem.
Three senior officials with the IFA refused to be interviewed by Sky, even though the organisation has already commissioned research into the attitudes of supporters.
If they do nothing, they risk being seen as an obstacle to progress in attracting cross-community support but, if they say they are considering dropping the anthem, they will annoy many of those who pay to support the team already.
Their solution for now is to say nothing.
Sky News spoke to fans from both sides of the divide before an Irish League match between two Belfast teams.
Cliftonville have a mainly Catholic following, while Glentoran are from staunchly loyalist East Belfast.
Several Cliftonville fans said the anthem should be changed, but admitted it would not mean they switched allegiance from the Republic.
One fan who said he already supported the North said: "I think Northern Ireland have already lost a generation of fans. It's whether the want to continue to lose more generations. I think they have to be proactive."
Several Glentoran followers voiced support for an alternative anthem such as "Danny Boy" which was adopted by Ulster boxer Barry McGuigan.
The same tune "Londonderry Air" is used by Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth Games. Local band Snow Patrol have even been asked to write a new football anthem.
But one fan summed up the attitude of many traditional supporters, saying: "The Queen is our head of state. We're British. We carry British passports and we will always stand for the national anthem. It will never be any different."
Mark McIntosh, who reports on Northern Irish football for the Sunday Mirror, believes the issue has been overblown.
"It's 40 seconds. I don't think it makes that much of a difference. Catholic players play for Northern Ireland now and respectfully stand during the anthem," he said.
"I don't think everybody has to sing the anthem. Not every England player would sing the anthem. As long as they are committed to the country, it doesn't matter whether they sing or not."
There are other issues such as the venue and the national flag which are also said to deter nationalists from cheering on the country of their birth.
But, perhaps, the biggest reason they prefer the Republic at the moment has nothing to do with politics.
The Republic have just qualified for the Euro 2012 finals, while Northern Ireland have slumped to 89th in the Fifa rankings and are currently looking for a new manager.
