What about people like me, i was always a techno(old skool) music lover & am now getting into other types?

I remember these songs from watching the films & would probs never heard them unless i watched the film

Fair enough if you just hadn't heard the song before. I was talking about people who had obviously heard certain songs and didn't like them until they were made "trendy" by being used in a film.

I genuinely have friends who are trend-bound and are guilty of this.

Dazed and Confused, without a doubt.

Class soundtrack and class film. It makes me feel so nostalgic about a period I never belonged to! Amercian Graffiti also springs to mind.

This is exactly how I feel about Almost Famous, one of the best films I've ever seen. There's a scene in it where he inherits his sister's record collection and it's all Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys and Simon & Garfunkel. Apparently it was the director's actual record collection. What I would do to have lived during that era. Then it goes forward to 1973 and the fictional band in the film are supporting Led Zep, Bowie, Black Sabbath. Compare that to now and it just seems like no one takes music that seriously anymore.

    100% :50:

You look at teenage - coming of age films - based in the 70s and the music is incredible. The Dazed and Confused soundtrack alone has Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Frampton, Sabbath, Sweet, Deep Purple, Skynard, Dylan, Nazareth, * Dixon, etc.

Based nowadays an equivalent film would have Bieber, Lady Gaga, and Black Eyed Peas. Poor kids.

    I'm not picky.
A couple of my favourites are the Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction soundtracks.

Also enjoyed the Shallow Grave soundtrack as well.

It's weird you mentioned those two songs out of reservoir dogs, I downloaded them literally straight after watching the film and was addicted to listening to them both. I'd never heard of them before watching that film though. Goodfellas has a great soundtrack aswell.

Anything by Ennio Morricone, especialy The Battle of Algiers. I love his work, have them all on vinyl.

Also, despite Ennios comments about Django I thought it was fantastic. Was it a soundtrack or just a collection of very good songs?
