It's a slang term for chinese food, used widely across the UK. Perhaps I should have been more 'PC' when posting online and called it a Chinese, apologies to all our Chinese members, wherever they are.

Some people will find it derogatory some won't. I'd only class it as racism when shouting in the face of a Chinese man calling him it while squinting my eyes.

Something of course, I would never do, before anyone jumps to more conclusions:56:

I use both. Just like aye and yes. I don't have a racist bone in my body. I'm comfortable using both. Never thought about it to be honest. It is a bit stuck in the past so might not use the word chi**y in front of the kids or on forums from now on. It's 2015 now not 1975. I'm going to order a Chinese tomorrow. :icon_mrgreen:

Calling it Chinky food is racist, whether you realise it or not. Haggis isn't "Jock" food, just like Tapas isn't "Spic" food. Saying "It's just the food" is bullshit. Wise up.

I accept that many would find it offensive.

However it's a phrase I have grown up with and one which divides opinion still. I shouldn't have said it on here, granted.

    Leave it at that.
