I wondered about going to a 352 and how Jota would fit in. I’m not sure I’d want him as a wingback, Juranovic definitely, but I’m not sure about Jota doing the defensive work. Mind you, there probably wouldn’t be a whole lot of defensive work to do :giggle1:

Wonder who will score first of the new recruits and will they score against sevco.
Hattrick each would do nicely against the scum.

Why would we ever want to go back to 3 at the back? Centre back is one position we are struggling in big time.

CCV is the only centre back I have confidence in to play well, consistently. Welsh still needs more experience, Starfelt is a hit or a miss and Jullien hasn’t kicked a ball in a year. Then it’s Bitton or a youth player.

We should always play 4 at the back unless injuries mean it’s better not too.

3 cbs also takes away another attacking player from the side.

Dude, going from 40 to 60 is a 50% increase... On top of that the bonuses and sponsorship options/money etc would have been bigger, even then...

But as I said, no chance we'd even get him now, let alone hold onto him

Unfortunately with Japan having world cup qualifiers that overlap the sevco game its highly questionable if any of the 3 lads will play and Kygo and Rogic will miss most likely as well.

None of the 3 newbies has been picked for the national team for well over a year. Unlikely to suddenly change over the next 4 weeks.

You are correct, I had been thinking of it as him being on 33% less than what he could have been earning, but posted that % as an increase in wages. In my defence I had had a few whiskies and not much sleep when I posted it!

I remember this Japanese family had some seats behind ours one season - possibly ‘07-‘08. They were a middle-aged faither and two grown-up daughters.
Almost anytime Naka got the ball (and certainly if he took it in a promising position, or it was a free-kick, etc), at least one of the daughters, but often both, would exclaim, ‘Shunsukeeee!’ in this funny, half-whisper, half-scream sort of a voice.
Annoying at first, but became very endearing, and spoke volumes about the pride they took in him. Was infectious: a wee boy who sat with his dad near us started to mimic it, to his faither’s embarrassment, but the Japanese family encouraged him. It became a bit of a laugh, and he joined in with them all season. Sometimes we would as well, if Naka scored or that.

Dk about Sevco, but I’ve a feeling that, out of the three, Hatate might hit the ground running first. Not sure why; just a hunch.

Not to be too cynical b7t financially speaking this must lead to a good bump in revenue with this amount of Japanese influences.

Especially (albeit unrealistic) if they go to have an impact akin to Kyogo.

Also I remember watching Kyogo highlights and noticed this was a guy who had no bother getting in defenders faces, getting his body in the way to be a nuisance and run after the ball.

    Look at him now.

If Daizen is considered the more physical of the two and is happy doing the same. * *. We could be ruthless domestically

That would be great news if it pans out that way.

3 guys for the price of Kyogo pretty much, 850k for Ideguchi and a bit either side of 1.5m each for Maeda and Hatate if reports are right. Think with Maeda especially coming off a top scoring season there must be addons or a sell-on clause in there, but if any of them have half the impact Kyogo has it's daylight robbery.
