Same as trusty really, was pretty poor but would be incredibly harsh to judge him too much based on that game alone.

Whilst I don’t doubt Taylor could be improved upon that should show just how much he’s taken for granted and it might take more than a few million quid to do that.

Not arguing with any of that, just more curious why him in particular.

Think today illustrated a few things:
    - Taylors a decent, reliable LB and expecting a prospect from Barca to replace him immediately (as some have suggested) is pie in the sky
    - Schmichael is not going to go a season without conceding (even though he already had :56:) and is being hyped too early
    - Rodgers needs to rotate a few players more often to bleed them into the team

Not to judge Valle too soon, but today did make me wonder why we just didn't keep Matthew Anderson in the squad instead. Feels like a similar project to Valle.

I’d say he was sent to us to develop his game in a physically challenging league. Very early days and it’s hard to judge because of the circumstances, but he looked a bit of a boy amongst men, TBF he’s 20 is he not?

He had a couple of really neat and fluid touches and the assist for Bernie’s goal was nice too.

But I felt it we never got a great account of him because of the disjointed nature of the team on that side.

I want to see him coming into the starting 11 when we’re firing on all cylinders to see what he can really do.

Give him guys like Engels and Maeda also working the left side and I'm sure we'd see a different player

Way too early to call it but he needs a few starts alongside Scales & CCV, with Reo and Maeda in front of him

Would like to see him with our first pick team around him, I think he would shine.

Countless times I seen him in space but he was not getting the ball from Palma who then killed most of the moves and defensively didnt help him much either.

Because the fans would have been in uproar. Like it or not, there's still a mentality that a Spanish player is beter than a Scottish one, especially if he's a "Barca prospect". If Matthew Anderson had played like that yesterday he'd have been hounded.

Boy could come good, but I'd prefer we gave the chances to our own players/prospects.

Thought he defended pretty well tbh. First goal on him is harsh. He won the header then he’s pulled back so can’t get back out in time.

Don’t want to judge him just yet, but he was extremely poor bar the assist.

Let’s see when he gets more game time but he got rag dolled about which is extremely concerning.

Looked miles off it. Weak physically and apart from his assist with the goal offered little going forward. Bounced off the ball too often.

One of Taylor's weaknesses is his lack of height and that's why he's often targeted with long high balls to his area of the park and to replace him with a physically weaker and even smaller player like Valle is the wrong choice.

He looks weaker, but is surely taller than GT.

Most places have him listed as 5'10", so around 3 inches taller than Taylor.

I thought he looked like he struggled with the system we were playing. He seemed to be caught between trying to be the traditional full back and inverting and got zero help from those around him.

Still I am pretty disappointed we had a full year to scout a new left back and what clearly looks like a player needing significant development is the best we could manage.

I know it’s only one game….but one game is all I have to go on the others too. Can’t see why we just didn’t give the opportunity to Frame or Anderson this season to try take Taylor’s spot when he wasn’t playing.

People are looking way too much into 60 mins of football. Not surprising, mind. But we really do need to learn our lesson sometimes. I slaughtered Kuhn and had many similar comments as are being used against Valle. Lightweight, off the pace, not used to the style etc. Sometimes it takes time.

It was his first start in British football coming from Spain, young player who is still getting accustomed to a new country. There's a lot tuat goes into a players performance other than the fact of he is "*". He will need time.

Rodgers said himself that him and Trusty are both needing the time to get used to how we play. This isn't an easy system to come into, particularly as a full back.

Chat of asking why we aren't just playing Anderson or Frame etc is so premature and could easily be laughed at in 6 months if this guy kicks on. We just don't know either way yet.

It may only be one game and yes we can only judge on that but I genuinely think its way too early to make any wide reaching comments about him. You need at least 10-15 or so consistent games to see what a guy is about, sometimes longer.
