That would be fine if it Leone didn’t precede it with a slur.

Aye, that's what I was saying. No need for that at all.

He's a tough negotiator but that's not because he's Jewish.

Don’t doubt he’s a tough negotiator. Most owners will be.

Read a few rumours that we want him, which doesn’t really change anything for me. No doubt in my mind that Lennon would’ve wanted him in the summer and will maintain that interest until the window closes today.

If it’s going to happen it will be a last few hours of the window type thing imo.

A SHOCK deadline day transfer taking £8m-rated Victor Wanyama from Tottenham to Celtic could still happen today, according to reports.

The former Hoops hero, now 28, earns around £60,000-a-week at Spurs.

The chance of him making an emotional return to the club under his former gaffer Neil Lennon had been thought to be fading as Celtic bolstered their midfield resources by picking up Ivorian midfielder Ismaila Soro.

Hardline Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is also demanding a £1.5m loan fee then an obligation to buy the player in the summer.

But talksport sports reporter Ian Abrahams claimed on one of his morning bulletins that it still “looks like” the transfer will happen.

While the likes of Scott Brown and Callum McGregor currently have the deeper midfield roles at Celtic nailed down, Wanyama would certainly be a popular arrival should he return for a second stint.

Plucked from Germinal Beerschot for a bargain £900,000 in 2011, the Kenyan earned the club £12.5m when he moved on to Southampton just two years later, picking up two league titles and scoring a famous goal in the 2-1 victory over Barcelona into the bargain.

More money came Celtic’s way when he moved on again to Tottenham in the summer of 2016, with the fee thought to be in the region of £11m

Regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe when he arrived at the club, niggling injuries have pushed him down the pecking order.

While he has battled back to fitness, the midfielder has been limited to just four appearances this season, his last coming against Bayern Munich in December.

Bayer Leverkusen, Fiorentina, Rennes and Strasbourg have all expressed an interest in the Kenan international, although talkSPORT still feel a move to Celtic could be on the cards, perhaps to fill a space freed up should Olivier Ntcham move to West Ham for a fee in the region of £14m

“Wanyama would be a good signing,” was how TalkSport pundit Ally McCoist reacted to the news.

Ntcham is an excellent player and he would be absolutely brilliant for Moyesy at West Ham.”

Bit awkward if he does come and has to fight Forster for his number.

Tottenham are in talks to loan Victor Wanyama to Celtic.

Spurs had been holding out for a permanent deal this month but despite interest from several clubs at home and abroad, none were prepared to meet their £9million asking price.

The Scottish Premiership leaders, who signed Wanyama in 2011 before selling him to Southampton two years later, are keen on bolstering their midfield but harbour concerns over the 28-year-old’s long-term fitness.

Wanyama has played just 12 minutes under Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho – in the club’s dead rubber Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich – and is yet to rediscover his best form following persistent knee problems which began in 2017.

Standard Sport understands Spurs are expected to pay a significant chunk of Wanyama’s £62,000-a-week wage although the finer details of a deal are yet to be finalised.

The deal is also likely to include an option to buy, although the prospective fee will remain a sticking point given Spurs’ valuation. They accepted a £13m offer from Club Brugge last summer but Wanyama turned down the move because he refused to take a wage cut.

He was also reluctant to leave last January as he sought British citizenship but that situation that has now been resolved. Wanyama is thought to be open to a move back to Scotland as he seeks to revive his career
