    Celtic have been linked with towering Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk.

    The much-wanted 22-year-old has also been mentioned in connection with Premier League sides Everton, Newcastle and Sunderland, but reports in Holland suggest that Celtic have already made a bid for the £2million-rated Groningen player.

    Van Dijk’s agent, Martin Henk Chin, revealed there has been a move for his client, saying: ‘It is true that a bid for Virgil has been made but I can’t say anything about the club.’

    Celtic boss Neil Lennon has put a dominant defender on his summer shopping list — and van Dijk could be the man to fit the bill.

    Already a Holland Under-21 international, Van Dijk has been a stand-out for Groningen — who finished seventh in the Eredivisie last season — and the club have also confirmed an offer was received but refused to name the bidder.

    Looks good on the youtube videos but who knows, youtube could make me look like a cracking player. He has scored an impressive amount of goals for a defender, and he is * massive. Only 22 as well, not getting too excited as I don't know much about the guy, but we shall see.
