We would only be liable to pay out the remainder of his contract, so yes I would do that.
Why have him at our club when all he wants to do is pick up a wage for doing nothing. He is pish and that attitude is not good for morale.

Is there anything against us telling him not to turn up at all, just stay at home?

No we wouldn’t. He would be within his rights to claim for damages to his professional reputation and, if he did so, we’d also have legal bills to settle (quite likely ours and his). It would also damage the club’s reputation for future recruitment.

Absolutely nothing. He’s as well training though, even if it’s just in case of a worst case scenario (like him playing our last game).

The best thing for all sides is that he moves on, but I can as good as guarantee that we’ll have to pay part of his salary (for the remainder of his contract) even once he goes.

Lennon definitely rated him very highly. Whether it was his idea in the first instance or he gave approval to the suggestion, I’m not sure, but he definitely wanted him as soon as Forster said no.

    Agreed.

There is no way of getting out of a contract, by "ripping it up" at worst/best we would need to pay the remainder of his contract in a lump sum - so even if we can not move him on, it is better, financially, to hold on to him till the deal runs out - saves paying a lump sum out.
And, who knows, maybe he remembers he is a paid goalkeeper sometime in the next 2.5 years and does a turn way down the line.

Well that explains a lot however, surely someone must have been scouting him before we actually made the mistake to sign him?

I’d like to think so, but it genuinely wouldn’t surprise me if our “scouting” consisted of the two games we played against AEK and a YouTube highlights video… :31:

Unfortunately, I think that particular method might have been used for several of our signings :censored:

I actually don't think it was a mistake to sign him or Ajeti.

I'll slate Peter lawwal and this board as much as anyone, sometimes first to do so, but both players where highly rated, at a great age, proven track record, internationals etc, money spent with view to selling them on.

They've not worked out. Not helped by the shambles that was Neil Lennon last season either, but that's football some times.

I think everyone was generally excited and happy with the signing of barkas and Ajeti at the start of last season.

For me, Ajeti is a decent player that would work well in a specific system, but I don't think he suits Ange's system at all, think he'll do well when he leaves.

With Barkas, It's all down to attitude imo, there is zero chance he's as bad as he currently looks. Was first choice for the Greek national team and AEK Athens. Guy clearly doesn't give a toss.

The Atmosphere last season was toxic, even Mcgregor looked terrible.

Exactly. Ajeti doesn't fit the system, fair enough. And barkas doesn't go from Greek number one and playing in Europe with Athens, to being as poor as he seems currently.

Shame, had high hopes for both.

Ajeti needs a system that requires him to move very little, to not at all. Not many teams will play that these days.

I questioned his ability from his YT vids. Never saw him make a catch save and this worried me. He parried every shot. If I could see that without a trained eye then who to * spotted him. Although it seemed a bit desperate on our part to get a top keeper.

I really think he is as bad as we have seen. Looking back at his highlights he doesn't really have any saves you'd say were really that amazing, all right at him pretty much. Not bad at collecting crosses and not bad with his feet....that's it.

The issue with that is that it only frees up his wages for 5/6 months, without any guarantees beyond that. The club therefore wouldn’t reinvest those funds this month, unless it was a loan.

In saying that, if we even halved his wage and that extra £6k a week contributed to getting someone like Wolf in the door then it’s a win/win.
