Would say more that a couple, given we lacked depth compared to other top European sides, but the first XI was exceptionally strong.

Obviously a proper GK would’ve made all the difference. I’m not sure there are many example of such a glaring weakness in a side as Douglas in the Seville team.

I agree with all of that. Should’ve done better and got down even just a half second quicker but at the same time it is a very unfortunate scenario to find himself in. Has to be better prepared though. I hope he gets an early thunderbolt fired in at him v Hibs if he plays. It’ll wake him up. I feel like he is sometimes caught unawares because he rarely faces a shot. But that could also be because he organises his defence better, Bain has faced much more shots than him already in half the games playing behind the same defence. Does that maybe tell us something? That Barkas’ better distribution and vision of the game makes him less likely to face shots reign in on him. Goalkeeping in the modern day is about much more than shotstopping, as stupid as that sounds.

I also watched the game yesterday and he was barking orders left, right and centre. Being really commanding! Once he starts to become confident in his English I reckon he’ll reassure his defenders much more.

Craig Gordon trying to catch a ball thats going wide and dropping it in front of the oppositions striker is a howler, Barkas's against the Huns isn't, granted he should of done better there have been far worse goals we'v conceded.

The fact Duffy played Goldson a mile inside probably didnt help the guy either.

Aye 100%, same for a few other goals he's conceded.

Barkas was never gonna be as good as FF, think it's time people stop trying to judge him off his standards, FF is an excellent goalkeeper who in reality is far too good to be sitting on Southamptons bench and is an unrealistic bench mark currently as he is a one off signing for us, FF could walk into most Prem sides but is maybe killed by his lack of accurate & quick distribution which is vital in the modern game. Barkas ovbs aint at FF's level but given time and a good run in the team he can maybe start to show why we paid 5m for him and get up to a level near Forsters, it won't happen overnight but after a handful of games I think it's mental folk are slaughtering him.

Yer having a laugh and being extremely harsh on the lad for that goal. Genuinely can't take that serious.

As plenty have said on this thread previous WHY did Lennon not bring back David Marshall this season? Then when u watch Marshall tonight it just makes it more baffling.

Him and the board would have been slaughtered for lack of ambition.
There was people in here favouring the Barkas move over Forster because of his potential resale value.

Watch it again....the ball goes straight through his wrists.

    Awful goalkeeping.....

I agree about the defence...had they been doing thier job he wouldn't be needing to make the save.

Still to early to be calling him as a waste of money.

Problem is getting beat by Rangers is too much for some and no matter what you do after it will never be enough.

The usual everything is fine/acceptable until we get beat by them.

    Was there?
Not me, to * with resale. Its all about best man for the job, especially in such a critical position.
Its a major concern right now that Bain is considered a better option.
    Bain is bang average.
Barkas needs to be given an extended run. Sure, there were a few goals he conceded that he should have stopped, but Bain has shipped a fair few goals recently.
