It looks tougher on paper, but our last 2 group stages at the EL had much better standout teams in the ilk of Salzburg, Leipzig and Lazio. None of the teams we have drawn this season are anywhere near their level.

Absolutely - but my point related to @Bonobhoy's mention of how we've played so far this season... where just about every game has been against 10 defenders and a goalie! The Group games will be a VERY different proposition!

Lille won’t be relaxed. If they play full strength they are a team with pace across the front. They’ve started well in the league, I do wonder how into the Europa they will be because if they rest the likes of Sanches, Bamba, David and Ikone, I don’t think they’d offer much at all.

Teams will certainly be playing to win rather than not lose and maybe sneak a win. But that draw could of been far easier and we’d of still had open games. But I like these big games. In comparison, the huns group bores the life out me.

I understand that sentiment, mate, but ILTC said that we could play our B team because 'the games are never that difficult anyway', which is nonsense.

Difficult but exciting group. No reason we can't qualify from the group.

No doubt there will be plenty along to tell us what a disaster this is, how we'll get pumped and it will have a knock on effect in the league and we will lose the 10 and that Eddie will be away at the transfer deadline and everything is falling apart.

    Enjoy yourselves with that :giggle1:

We won’t be playing our B team in these games unless we are either already qualified or already out at the end of the campaign.

As others have mentioned where it is not CL these will be game’s most of our players will be keen to play in. It is just a shame crowds cannot be at theses games as they have the potential to be some good ties.

AC is one of the best games in this competition. Not as big as they once were but still a belter.

Wouldn't be too fussed about not making it out the group this season of it was to our benefit domestically.

Only way it could have been tougher is if we drew Leicester in pot 2.

Our luck in draws recently has been so bad but overall record isn’t too bad.

    EL - Milan, Lille, Sparta - ?
EL - Lazio, Rennes, Cluj - Finished 1st
EL - Leipzig, Salzburg, Rosenborg - Finished 2nd
CL - Bayern, PSG, Anderlecht - Finished 3rd
CL - Barcelona, Man City, Gladbach - Finished 4th.

The fact that we are now in the Group stages might encourage the players that we are after, to sign for us instead of teams not in Europe since they will know that the better we do here the higher stage we enter the CL next season.

Decent group with a big glamour game. It will be a tough group to get out of but at least we made it.

And no doubt there will be posters on here greeting if we loose 10iar on where it all went wrong, the formations, the tactics, the management, the involvment in the EL (which incidently only a few weeks ago was a micky mouse tournament until we got pumped into it).

I want us to do well, but as stated earlier unless we sit back and evaluate the 5 touraments/cups/leagues we are in this year, and the way we are playing so far then its going to be a very difficult season to overcome.

This is our monumental year,we have waited 10 years for this and the only thing i give a * about this season is the league,to go down in football history.................if we can achieve that and play well in the EL then excellent, but league is of upmost priority.

Lille will be interesting for our players. But without Forster, I expect us to get knocked out, ultimately.

    It's a tough group.

Lille have a good side and have invested. AC Milan despite not being the force they were are still AC Milan with Ibra etc.

Only we could be pot 1 and draw a couple of the tougher sides from 3 and 4!

    Looking forward to it though.

    Try triple that!

Took about 20k-30k to rome. It's the same sort of trip for different reasons. Like Amsterdam.

Tough but exciting and glamourous draws. Certainly not going to be boring.

League takes ultimate precedence for me too.

A glance at our fixtures to be played after the Europa games shows that it's not going to be a cake-walk to compete in the Europa and ensure we don't drop points a few days after.

    M1: Aberdeen (A)
    M2: Aberdeen (N) - Scottish Cup Semi
    M3: Motherwell (A)
M4: No game scheduled at present
    M5: St Johnstone (H)
    M6: Kilmarnock (H)

The huns have Livingston & Hamilton at home then Killie, Dundee United & Ross County away
