Forrest is one of the players that is in the team to provide that creative spark. He just couldn't get himself involved in the game. Even when Lennon moved him in behind the striker, he was still anonymous.

    But why was he anonymous?
he didn't get a foothold because of the rest of the team not finding him rather worrying about pumping up long to stokes all night. Lennon moved him in there to try and get on the ball but it was in vain he can only do so much you need the team to help and they didn't simple as that.

You are talking like Forrest is blameless in all of this. Other players were able to get on the ball, a lot of them didn't do anyhting with it mind you, but they did manage to get on it, unlike Forrest. The long balls that we were playing weren't intended for Stokes either, they were intended for Samaras, but unfortunately, he doesn't have the heart to go and win his fair share.

what really annoyed me was bringing dirk on and then didn't attempt to get the ball into his feet once, just launched it up to sammy and he won nothing

I wasn't suggesting that mate. Finnbo would have been around 5 but we are unwilling to pay more than 2 for any player

    was petrov but now McManus
the back line and goalie were excellent again. i thought van dijk was absolutel class. A shame our entire attacking force is so bad. Thats as bad as samaras has played in a long time, it took 60 minutes for james forrest to get on the ball and he was at fault for not tucking in at the goal, stokes aint a striker for this level, commons only tactic was to win fouls but his deliveries were shocking! ajax were rubbish which makes it even more disappointing.

Around £5m? Why were they knocking back £6m bids from other teams then?

Our summer signing policy *'d us last night. We should have bought two decent players, midfielder and striker instead of 5 or 6 average players.

A real fan would get himself down to Asda and land one on a cake decorated in the colours of the opposition :86:

Lol we are such a joke. In 2 games we didnt get 1 clear chance against Ajax! And dont talk about the match at Celtic Park because we won that game because of a deflection and penalty. And it wasnt even Ajax full A squad, they missed Bojan Krkic,Moisander,Duarte imagine the score with those players fit.... Sure we miss Hooper and Wanyama but would we made a better chance in this group with them? I doubt that, and besides Ajax lost Eriksen and Alderweireld too and Milan. K Boateng.

We've been crying out for good CB's for the last half-dozen-or-so seasons and we seem to have finally signed one in the summer in the form of Van Dijk.

It's not all doom and gloom!

That was an abysmally * performance from us, but having cheered up today it's gotta be a good thing that we played so terribly and only got beat 1-0 away from home. Against 1 of the biggest clubs in the world, and it took an absolutely world class goal to defeat us.

Plus (as * usual this season) if we had a decent striker we would have scored at least one.

Van Dijk, Ambrose, Forster & Lustig were brilliant as usual. Everyone else was poor. Kayal so nearly had a great game but ultimately his woeful shooting let us down again and so for me renders his good dribbling and hassling redundant.
