"Celtic are watching Aston Villa's Irish under-19 international wonderkid Tyreik Wright, according to a report.

The Daily Mail claim the 19-year-old winger is wanted by several clubs with Premier League side Everton also prominently in the mix."

His current deal finishes at the end of the season and that means is be available for a nominal fee via the infamous cross-border loophole the Hoops used to secure Moussa Dembele.

Everton and Celtic are among the clubs keeping tabs on Aston Villa youngster Tyreik Wright.

Winger Wright is attracting attention with his Villa deal up at the end of the season.

The 19 year-old, a direct and speedy left-footed right winger, joined Villa in 2018 and progressed through their youth setup since arriving from Irish club Lakewood.

Wright is currently enjoying his first taste of senior football having been loaned out to League Two Walsall last month and has quickly impressed, setting up two goals in his first two appearances.

Saddlers boss Darrel Clarke said of the Ireland youth international: ‘Tyreik's got great ability.

'He's been showing his match winning qualities in the Under 23's at Villa and for his country at youth level.

'We've got a great relationship with Villa and we're very grateful to them for letting us have one of their exciting youngsters.

He has that match winning quality, energy, pace, and he created the goal at Port Vale [his debut] with one bit of magic.

'As long as he’s doing the other side of the job he’ll have a good future.’

And the growing interest in Wright represents a dilemma for Villa with his current contract ticking down.

Wouldn't consider him a "wonderkid from what I've seen. That said he's has good potential with a manager who will develop youth .. probably would be as far away from a breakthrough as Barry Coffey would be

Whats wae the “infamous cross-border” patter? Its the rules, dunno why they need to make it sound sinister.
