I'm interested to hear people's views on this.

Do you feel you should be paying over £140 a year to watch broadcasts?

Is there anyone who refuses to pay it?

I pay it but grudgingly, considering we are paying just for BBC channels it's a disgrace

It might be an odd system but it does work. Without it, everything would be commercial based. You'd soon find that news channels etc would become as partisan as FOX is in the USA.

And while a lot of the BBC output is pretty *, they also make the best TV shows in the UK IMO. David Attenborough's stuff alone is better than you'll get from any other British tv show producer.

You're also paying for iPlayer and the radio mind.

Rarely use iPlayer listen to the football on the radio other than that
I don't really watch BBC or listen to it.

would love to be able to pull that Strawman off, would save a fortune.

Well technically that's not true Marky, but that's for another day :86:

Just looking to gauge public opinion on it.

Same if you don't use an NHS hospital or go to primary school. You're paying so others can.

I'd rather the BBC had adverts than having to pay a TV license.

It's a bargain if you actually watch the BBC channels which in my case I rarely do apart from Formula 1 (which the BBC has now halved it's coverage) and Top Gear which is on roughly 14 times a year. I'd say with some certainty that I'm not getting value for my money.

I rarely watch BBC, so it's total bullshit being expected to pay that amount.

We got found out years ago after buying a new TV. Apparently the shop you buy from gives your details to the *.

Phoned them up a couple of years ago and said I have digital TV and I never watch BBC channels and why do I not have the power to not pay it and get the channels taken away?

I got hit with some flannel about it not being to fund the BBC but it's a licence to watch television.

It's a * con, like everything else in life you should have a choice whether you want to pay for something or not.

The only reason why we have to pay for the TV licence is because its a outlet for the government/parliament, in the past they used the excuse 'its because you get the use of our broadcast stations and antennas' but now the large majority pay a outside subscriber eg. Virgin, BT, Sky and they use their own satellites with no connection to the BBC. If anything the external companys should be paying the BBC to use their stations and that added onto the cost of your package, we shouldn't be forced to have to pay.

I think paying for a TV licence is out dated and should be revised, especially for the * you get on the BBC i cant say i especially look forward to anything apart from MoTD which i can get very similar on SKY.

Being forced to pay for something in my eyes is a tax so the TV licence is a Entertainment Tax or a stealth tax if i could get away with it i wouldn't pay it that's for sure. Another thing if it is a tax we should have a say on how it is ran yet it remains out with any public say.

I would really like to know if there is any other country that gets away with this robbery worldwide?

Bit of a farce really, wouldn't mind if too much if Scottish football or Celtic benefitted from it by actually giving us decent highlights with good pundits, MOTD and Sportscene, compare those two and you really don't get value for money.
