Brilliant window for me Jota & Ccv 2 great signings I genuinely thought CCV would be away to a mid table epl side and Jota some Spanish side and we'd be starting all over again the two of them are better players this season than when they first walked through the door,

Ball playing centre half in Jenz to challenge Starfelt and a good quality Left back which we've needed for a while. Think we're a DM away from it being a superb window which won't happen now with the Mooy signing but he has quality aswell and I think he could be a surprise package this year.

Add in the January signings who will improve with having a full pre season the futures looking bright.....

I see where @Fontaine is coming from. Delighted to sign CCV and Jota - but yes they were here last season. Will they improve further? Almost definitely. But they were here last season so keeping them isn't exactly improving upon last season, it's just keeping the team together.

It's by no means been a bad window so far, but after making those loans permanent quite early on, it's definitely tailed off in terms of excitement.

Think the vast majority of us wanted to see a proper defensive midfielder signed as we clearly lack that sort of player, but it appears we won't be getting one. A left footed CB would also have been a big signing but doubt we'll get that either now. If we don't get either of those, or another attacking option it will turn what was looking like an incredible window into a good, but ultimately slightly underwhelming window.

Keeping CCV and Jota is an improvement on the team that's a fact, if we did not then we were weaker doesn't matter that we had them on loan last season they improve our team. The standing still * is *.

We have not made many massive glamour signings outside of them but that doesn't matter, we have depth in LB now, if Bernabei turns out to be a quality for then we are well set there as Taylor improved massively over the course of last season. GK we have a high quality 2nd now a position we all agreed needed work for depth.

CB we have filled the gap player and now have 4 that we can rely on and Julien there too just now.

We have made some key sales in thinning the bloat in the squad with some more to follow likely.

And we have retained our core team no one is away, no first team gaps to scramble to fix, and barring Starfelt no major injuries going into the start if the season (touch wood)

Yes, I would like to see a DM come in to fit with us but our midfield is healthy right now across every position in it but I would have liked a proper combative breaker of play that would have gave us another element.

A utility forward would be nice but equally is not needed, I would like to see is give youth a chance to get games, players like Dawson, Kenny, Vata can play across in the front to get some rotation and bench appearances in games that we are more comfortable in, Murray and Lawal in defense, Summers etc in midfield, that is the logical next step to how we use the B team and Tues in with the unified system we are looking to implement at the club.

Keeping players who have improved since arriving a year ago on loan is improving the team. They should only continue to improve the longer they are here. This team should only keep improving as well as the have been together for some time now. We were a far better team come the end of the season than we were at the start of it. This year we are ready to hit the ground running.

I still think we need a big strong athletic CDM as we still look light weight in the at area and I'm afraid I don't share your confidence re the boy Lawal who looked completely lost against Blackburn Rovers the other day. I think we have improved but also think that the huns will go out and splash the cash from the sale of Bassey to strengthen their team.

I agree it would improve us, regardless to any specific youth, we should be giving them a chance to step up, who it is I don't care anyone from the B team Lawal seems to be in with a shout from the fact he's been prominent in pre season but I know what you mean in that he's not looked an instant superstar.

I don't care for us to compare to them what they do is their problem not ours.

What areas do you think we have failed to strengthen out of interest?

We had to shell out £13m for those two loanees and that could rise to £10m for CCV alone. On top of that we've signed a left back who will go straight into the first team, a backup for Hart that's an improvement on what we had, and with Mooy and Jenz we have more cover in midfield and CB as well.

Good business for mid July imo.

I'd like a top class 6 and 8 really - with a view to the CL groups but they'd need to be absolutely better than what we have.

The two players we've shelled out on is to ensure our team is the same as last year.

Bernabei, I've already mentioned is the only player we've signed for the starting xi.

Other than thay we've signed cover which you seem to agree with.

So I'm not really sure what you're getting at?

That's it's not a bad window thus far, and I don't agree that we've "stood still".

The disparity between our first string and second string is huge in terms of quality.

Forrest and Johnston miles behind Jota and Abada. McCarthy and Ideguchi miles behind McGregor and Hatate. Welsh and Jullien miles behind CCV and Starfelt.

Appreciate it’s just pre-season but I don’t think we have improved.

We have added depth and additional competition to the squad. That will help given the amount of games we play.

But crucially we haven’t signed anyone that goes straight into the starting 11 without any doubt and improves us.

I do think there will be natural progression this season with what we had anyway given the relatively young age of our squad and a full preseason with a settled squad.

With what we have right now, our central defence has improved from where we were last season. If Jullien stays and is fit enough it's effectively a new player. If he leaves and is then replaced then we are still stronger. If he leaves now and isn't replaced then it's debatable.

The only massive gap is to get a defensive midfield specialist, which I think we'll still get as a loan to buy.

I think we are okay with our front 6 being Jota, Maeda, Abada, Forrest, Johnston, Kyogo, and Giakoumakis. I do see another player coming in if we manage to shift Ajeti too.

Im fine with where we are.

So is every teams though and always has been. I would say our depth is pretty good, theres like 5 players who will be on the bench every week who you wouldn't mind watching - Ralston, Taylor, Turnbull, Abada/Maeda and Giakoumakis. They were actually all key players last season, Turnbull and Abada in the first half of the season and Ralston throughout and Taylor, Maeda and Giakoumakis at the end.

    McGregor
    Mooy Turnbull
    Abada Giakoumakis Maeda

If we had to play that for a month because O'Riley, Hatate, Jota and Kyogo were injured you wouldn't really be worried about not winning games. Compared to last season when we were turning to Montgomery, McCarthy, Soro, Ajeti, playing Juranovic on the wing.

There will have to be mental injuries this season, much worse than last I think for us not to put a good team on the park every week.

    Hart
    Ralston CCV Jenz Bernabei
    McGregor
    Turnbull Mooy
    Abada Giakoumakis Maeda

    Siegrist
    Juranovic Welsh Starfelt Taylor
    Ideguchi
    O'Riley Hatate
    Forrest Kyogo Jota

To be able to be missing 5 or 6 of your XI and still be able to field either team there is a strong position.

Problem will be if the 6 missing were the keeper, defence and McGregor at the same time. Even then we could field

    Siegrist
    Ralston Jullien Welsh Taylor
    O'Riley Mooy Hatate
    Jota Kyogo Maeda

Even that doesn't look massively weakened. Certainly not like

    Barkas
    Welsh CCV Starfelt
    Juranovic Bitton McCarthy Scales(Montgomery)
    Rogic
    Abada Kyogo(Dawson)

That played a League game in December last season.

I think its tough to gauge at this stage.

But if you take into consideration the Japanese boys, having the second half of last season and full pre-season under the belts, that we will see another improvement from them.
Siegrist is certainly an upgrade on second choice over barkas or bain.
RB is as strong as we could hope to have. JJ is outstanding and Ralston is a solid back up.
With Bernabei signed at left back. I'm very hopeful there's an improvement on the first eleven. Taylor showed enough last season to be the ralston of left back.
In centre half, I hoped for tall player good in the air, left footed and comfortable going forward with the ball and good passing.Jenz might be a cracking signing, and the fact Ange signed him gives me more hope than I would normally have reading his CV.

I really wanted a 6ft 4 tough midfielder those good with the ball. A lot to ask I know, but thought for europe in particular, that player with McGregor in front of him along with oreilly or Hatate would give us greater balance. But I really feel Mooy will surprise alot of people and Ange knows what he brings to the table more than most.
The front 6 is strong, and feel we do have options there. But I wouldn't rule out this is the area if we sign one more might come from. Ajeti ship sailed long ago, and MJ has had more chances than a monopoly board. Finding new homes for them along with CJ might allow us to pay decent wage for a loan that could have an option to buy, for a player to play one or two positions across the front three.

I read today that there are still 44 days remaining in the transfer window. So for now the attention surely turns to outgoings, and if Ajeti and Jullien are sold, and, for arguments sake, Mikey goes on loan, it wouldn't be a shock to see 1 of 2 more come in. A striker/winger at least. Ange showed with the O'Riley signing that if the right player becomes available we'll make a move.

The weak links in this squad forest,Johnston,Mccarthy poss gucci.forrest is done we give him new deal and mj is too weak for me so I would love a striker/winger still to come in and an attacking midfielder the guy that was valued at 3.5m is apparently available on a free

Look like we will be looking to shift jullien and Ajeti before we bring anyone else in.

Lawell, Urhoghide, Shaw, Robertson, Vata, MJ, Moffat, Dawson and Kenny could go out on loan. They shouldn't be playing the B league next season. And aren't good enough for first team. Some will be last chance saloon and some are ready for the step up.

In an ideal world world we shift Mccarthy and bring in the CDM alot of us talk about

There's still over a month left.

If it stays like this to the end I'd be happy enough but we definitely need 2-3 other quality additions tbh.

I think the fact we havnt lost any of our top players from last season is also massive.. if it stays like that I'll be very happy

Think we could do with an experienced CB, one that’s played in Champs or Europa a fair bit over the years.

    Larsson/Mmaee

    & a big French DM.

Unless we move on people like Ajeti, Big Chris and some of the other deadwood I can’t see us doing anymore business this window.

Ange said it would take several windows to address the team and this is the second summer window and there has been loads of movement once again.

I think it’s going to take another 15 million to get his perfect squad without selling an asset.

I don’t see us selling anyone like that this window, unless it’s last minute.

We need that big * defensive mid, right winger and forward.

Don’t see us getting the big defensive centre mid due to Ange’s comments

also after giving Forrest a 3 year deal I don’t see us getting another winger in.

Forward wise unless Ajeti is sold then he will third choice.
