mike van der hoorn is a free agent after getting released by Swansea. An absolute no nonsense defender if i've ever seen one. I want us to sign two CB'S this window so having this guy as fourth choice would be a good shout.

Didn’t realise Ricardo Rodriguez at Milan was only 27 years old.

Rumour that he is going to Torino for around £3 million.

Surely we should be at least trying at that kind of fee?

I’m sure he will be on a decent wage obviously but no harm in trying, especially if you are competing with teams like Torino.

    Hes on £100k a week.

So I'd be intrigued as to how torino are affording him.

Wow didn’t realise it was that much :88:

I was thinking he would be on somewhere in the region of £50k-60k maybe £70k at a push.

Back near the start of lockdown I did an exercise looking at our player trading from our annual reports since Lenny was here the first time 10 seasons ago. We are in the region of £35m positive over that time period. The wage bill went down when Delia came in then went up substantially when Rodgers was here. It would be interesting to see our accounts when they are published next month (probs) as it will reveal the wages for last year.

As things stand they will be lower as since January we have offloaded Sinclair, Morgan, Kouassi, Gordon, Bauer, Arzani, FF, Jozo, Hayes and players like Hendry and Bayo are out on loan.

At the same time we have added Barkas, who was quoted as a fairly modest salary, Klimala and Soro who given their stage of development are likely to be on lower salaries too. We probably still have too many players not contributing a lot picking up a decent wage e.g. Boli, Shved, Rogic and for the money he is rumoured to be on Ntcham not being a starter is an issue.

I hope it isn’t, let them bankrupt the tribute act, it’ll be even better this time given they won’t even have any return on the copious amounts they’re spending on wages and fees.

They must have some dough if they’ve kept Belotti all these years.

Not 100k wages dough. But I’m sure they can keep him happy.

Seen a few people saying that the targeting of Ajeti, an out of favour EPL player maybe the beginning of a new signing strategy for us.

If you look at it, it's actually a return to a similar format we had under Martin O'Neill. Taking good quality EPL players who were maybe out of favour and convincing them to make the move. Sutton, Hartson being the main two. Then supplementing them with the best of the SPL and players from smaller teams in Europe.

For the possible loan of Shane Duffy you can see parallels in us taking Ramon Vega on loan from Spurs in O'Neills first season also. Fuxk we've even got a big CB from Toulouse on board again.

Probably a lot to do with the appointment of Hammond as DoF, as his experience is all based in England and he'll have plenty contacts.

Congerton hovered almost exclusively about England too remember, hit us with De Vries, Gamboa and Musonda etc.

Out of favour EPL players or Young EPL players struggling to get a chance should always be targets.

Look at Moi and Forster. Then you’ve even got Sinclair who’d felt his career had stalled despite playing games.

Then youth like Frimpong and O’Connor.

There’s young talent in the Championship stagnating who would also jump at a chance like Dembele did, Luca Connell too.

The Prem teams just gobble up talent and it’s there for us to give them a lifeline and opportunities to win trophies and play in Europe.

I've always been a bit critical of James mcclean, can't believe I'm suggesting a 30 something on a permanent deal but is he exactly what we need from lwb, Stoke city player of season got into a couple championship teams of the week post lockdown, lot of experience at lwb and lw. We have Taylor, he's fairly solid he can play lb, but what mcclean would offer us from lwb is aggression and the ability to get in behind the opposition back line. Two years left, 31 years old , maybe could be done for 2/2.5mill. my only concern with him would be his final delivery and the fact he could potentially saw hagi/Kent in 2 and be sent off 5 mins into a game v sevco. But he is the type Lennon could get the best out of.

Apparently we are leading the race to sign Oli Burke...

Can't see it myself. Don't think Lennon played him much when he took over.
