    Although it's an absolute brilliant movie, wouldn't have really thought Three Billboards was a thriller, but maybe that's an example of what was talked about earlier in the thread, about it being very much open to interpretation, lol.

    Blade Runner (1982) - Classic

    The film never fails to fill me with both existential dread and spiritual hope. Philosophically plentiful, thematically rich and stunning aesthetics, it's surely one of the best films ever made.

    Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2019) - Modern Hit

    Another one that's philosophically deep--especially for a neo-Grindhouse film--Brawl in Cell Block 99 shows the lengths a man will go to in order to protect his family. It plays on the premise of Dante's Inferno, with Vince Vaughn's character descending into different levels of * in a career best performance from Vaughn.

    Le Trou (1960)     - Wildcard

    One of the greatest films you've likely never heard of, Le Trou breaks all prison-break film conventions and wrings out suspense in every second of its rolling time. The power of sound (or lack of) is excellently employed in this film.
