New series on Amazon, ‘Them’ and just watched the first episode. I’m very impressed and intrigued. It looks as if it’s going to run for several seasons all based in different times and the content is described as ‘American Fear.’

First season is set in the 50s and sees a black family moving from North Carolina to Los Angeles, Compton. They are the first black family to move into Compton which at the time was White middle class suburbia. Anyone that knows the story of Compton will know it didn’t become a black neighbourhood until the late 70s when all the whites started moving. After watching the first episode I’m gripped. It is brilliant production, acting and storyline. Done in a real stylish format. I recommend it highly atm.

Thanks for the heads up mate. Watched the first episode and I’m also intrigued. Not really sure where it’s going. Actually has hallmarks of a horror show but we will see.

    Very stylish and well directed.

One theory I have after the first episode.

The mother went crazy after they stole her baby boy back in Carolina and that she is actually Miss Vera and taught her daughter that song

Watched the first episode last night. I'll probably binge more today.
I like how it feels almost horror film-esque in parts.

Rattled through a few more episodes.

Episode 5 was a particularly hard watch.

To be honest I’m still not entirely sure what they are going for here. Seems like the creator had a load of ideas and instead of picking a couple and using them, they have just crammed every thought they had into the show. With another 5 episodes to go I can only see this getting more absurd tbh.

    Episode 5 was brutal.

I agree about the creator having too many ideas. They could have had 2 or 3 other shows out of this rather that throwing them all together as one.

Yeah I’m 4 in and thinking, * is goin on? I hope everything falls into place by the end because as you both say they are cramming so much info and twists into it that it feels like a heavy watch. Every main character is psychotic to some degree. Some money spent on it as well.

Finished this. Just as I feared it ran out of steam. The * was episode 9 all about?

The best thing I can say is that I don’t usually like all the overly in your face supernatural stuff, but it had enough going on for me to stick with it.

Fans of Stranger Things/American Horror Story will probably love it.

For me it started at 8/10 and ended a 5/10

Also (without giving anything away) having the main antagonist just branch off mid series into another storyline was really unnecessary.

The whole thing just ended up muddled and various storylines left unfinished.

Struggled to stay with this but eventually finished it.

    What was going on?? :giggle1:
The first episode seemed promising then it just got confusing

If it had stuck with just the race angle it could have been excellent as well.

Aye, the whole 1950's Compton angle seemed interesting since it's completely different nowadays but that could have really been set in Anywhere USA.
