How good is this Lucas Paqueta guy West Ham are signing for 50 odd million? First heard him mentioned with the Silva to Barca/PSG chat. Thought he might be City's next signing.

Chelsea will release Bakayoko. He was on loan to AC Milan but failed to impress there.

    Worth a punt ?

    £70m for Fofana.

Rodgers: how much are we going to spend on players tomorrow?
    Board : £50m
    Rodgers: what about the rest?
Board: Well your contract has a very expensive redundancy package

If money was no issue then once upon a time he'd be a * outrageous signing for us.

But thanks to the Chelsea once again destroying talent and sucking the confidence and ability out of players he's a shadow of the player that originally got him the move.

Wouldn't be worth it now as he'd still demand big money despite everything.

Too daft a character I think, wouldn't have him anywhere near us.

I kind off think the teams in Europe are lapping up these Epl teams spending 50 60 million on there players when most aren't even worth half that.

I don't the standard in Germany has plummeted from what it was like 3-10 years ago, the Italian League also isn't as good as it was 10+ year ago, most of the bottom end teams in Italy are the standard of English 2nd tier teams.

The standard of teams in the EPL is really high now, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Southampton, Leeds, West Ham etc have better squads than 75% of the teams in Italy, Spain and Germany. They probably lack the coaching teams in those Leagues have but if you moved those clubs to those Leagues they'd probably be competing for 4th, 5th, 6th yet in England it's a battle just to get 10th

When you get to the bottom of these leagues? I agree. I think teams like Mochengladbach, Atalanta and Sevilla would give anyone a game. Villareal showed that last year.

Teams like Sevilla, Villarreal, Valencia, Dortmund, Leverkusen, Leipzig, Lazio, Roma, they'd take a lot of players that are currently playing for Fulham, Brighton, Leeds, Wolves, Brentford but they canny afford to sign them.

They probably would. I'm sure Leeds/Fulham/Brighton would take players from Sevilla, Valencia etc too.

Different sort of games though. Frankfurt knocked out West Ham in the Europa League last year. Leicester were knocked out of their Europa League group by Napoli and Spartak Moscow and then beaten by Roma in the conference league. Spurs were knocked out of their group by Vitesse and Rennes in the conference league.

No one is disputing that the EPL has the biggest financial power but that doesn't mean they're better teams. Look at where Forest have spent some of their money. It's over inflated pish. It's no surprise that someone like Leeds, who have went for players in Germany/Austria are doing far better than * Everton who have bought guys from relegated clubs.

    1.
