[Cross Platform] The Racing Game Thread

I'm a big fan of racing games and thought since there's a lack of threads on here about individual racing games we should have one all inclusive thread for all for the motorsport fans to post in about any racing game.

 

To start off, PSN Black Friday deals on games are:

Need for Speed - £35.19 (Deluxe Edition - £41.59)

What's the best racing game on PS4? I quite liked Motorcycle Club the demo but it seemed very easy and not much options.

 

Project Cars without a doubt in my opinion, but I lean towards simulation rather than arcade racers so it's an acquired taste I suppose. Although there's so many customisation options that supposedly it can cater to a wide range of styles including arcade I've read (haven't tried tinkering with it it myself right enough).

If you like bikes rather than cars try Driveclub's Motorbike expansion pack which is available as a standalone game

 

Project cars for realism, driveclub for arcade fun with utterly stunning graphics..

I play live for speed, wrc, Richard burns rally, on pc with 3 monitor eyefinity setup..

 

Have you played Assetto Corsa yet? Not a PC gamer myself but it's coming to consoles next year. Hear the driving is top notch but it's missing things like pit stops, weather and a lot of basic things

 

Drive Club is a much, much better game than at the beginning. Reviewes from when it came out should not scare people off. I love that game.

Project Cars...I can't really get into it. A lot of cars are just un-drivable.

Enjoying Need for Speed pretty much atm.

Project Gotham Racing is a great arcade raqcer as well.

 

Ye asseto corsa is fantastic as well..

as above driveclub is amazing

 

WRC games are a bit underrated imo. but is the only real rally game. It's decent.

MXGP game is fun too, but a bit too easy.

Can't stand online modes in any of my mentioned games as there's always * who who make it a sport to push you off the track any chance they get. I miss the link probabilty of the PS2 where you, a mate, 2 ps2's and 2 tv screens gave you great racing fun.

 

I liked Driveclub from the beginning, it's 100% arcade racing but fun, unfortunately other games took my focus off as it pussyfooted about for about a year and then Project Cars came along so I lost interest in DC. The season pass is only £5 on PSN right now as well including 4 cars pack worth £20 alone. If I could pull myself away from Project Cars I'd try the Bikes expansion.

That's sim racing for you :smiley-laughing002: Old cars don't have a racing slicks option like Gran Turismo. It's an acquired taste.

Gave NFS a miss, love the customisation options but the reviews were less than flattering. Sounds like a big let down.

Let's not forget where Project Gotham came from, Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast, what a game!

 

I think WRC games became irrelevant in terms of gameplay and fanbase since Codemasters DIRT games did Rally, Rally Cross, Trailblazer etc.

 

Thats the thing though...Dirt are great and fun games and probably even better than the wrc games, but not a real rally game imo.

Weren't the Dirt games a spin off from the Colin McRea games? Not sure though. I miss those games.

 

Weren't a spin off, just an Evolution of them. The Dirt games still carried the Colin McRae name up until Dirt 3

 

Need for speed is the most fun I have had in ages with a racing game. I have project cars but haven't played it yet. I find formula one games boring these days and very limited. I used to love the old Colin McCrea rally games so I am tempted by the wrc games but not convinced they are worth the price

 

Why not go with WRC4 instead of WRC5?Much cheaper and pretty much the same game.

I had it on...... 'demo' as i was never sure of it from what i'd been told/seen.
Turns out it's pretty solid.
I'm also skint so will have to wait to get it. Probably after Xmas.

I also have Assetto Corsa.

 

That's the game I've been waiting on a first hand opinion of

Physics, Looks, Car models, FFB is great, laser scanned tracks, very high quality to all the content, Modding.

AI is shocking, career mode is a joke, MP is odd, Sounds are poor in some instances, what content there is there isn't loads without the expansion packs.

I don't really play the MP as my internet is * here but when i have tried it it was very good if annoying to join/start due to a ticket system. Single player career mode is rubbish.
