ANGE POSTECOGLOU is actively considering potential moves out of Celtic for fringe players like Osaze Urhoghide, Liam Shaw and Ewan Henderson.

Defender Urhoghide, 21, and midfielder Shaw, 20, both arrived from Sheffield Wednesday last summer for modest six-figure cross-border fees following the end of their contracts.





Each were given four-year deals but have struggled to make the breakthrough under Postecoglou who signed Urhoghide while Shaw originally committed to Celtic for his predecessor Neil Lennon.

The duo had to wait until the Europa League win over Real Betis on December 9 for their debuts while Shaw then made a sub appearance in the pre-Christmas 0-0 draw against St Mirren.

There is loan interest in the pair with Postecoglou weighing up offers for both and he will also gauge their feelings before making final decisions.

Midfielder Henderson, meanwhile, has been told he can go with his contract up in the summer.



Remarkably, the 21-year-old has never featured in a losing Celts side over 12 appearances in the Premiership, Scottish Cup, Champions League and Europa League and also scored the winner against Betis last month from the bench.

The brother of ex-Celtic and Hibs star Liam, currently with Serie A Empoli, could follow in his sibling’s footsteps by heading to Easter Road.


But the former Dunfermline and Ross County loan ace has other options.

 

The way Ange likes to play dictates we need a squad depth of quality. We need to reguarly rotate players, the number of hamstring injuries we have had proves that. In each position we need 2 quality players allowing us to rotate without having much of an impact on the way we play, we don't quite have that yet.

 

McCarthy is just in the door. Should be given time. Shaw and Henderson are one for the future.

Soro is the only one who has no future here indefinitely.

 

Weird but I don't think Henderson is an Ange player..

Didn't feature. Even after his European sub appearance he was bombed out when we were down to the bare bones and the likes of Moffat were drafted in..

 

Mate McCarthy is the most obvious example of a player not making it here I can remember in a long time.

I thought Shaw looked good in preseason at times and was willing to give him a chance but all these players offer nothing and need moved on immediately even if it means taking a hit financially.

They weren’t even good enough to come in for a game or two to rest the first teamers and that’s before we went out and signed 2 new midfielders and are rumoured to be trying to sign another.

 

There's no way the club is binning off players after 6 months.

I agree with them.

Look at Rogic, his celtic career was dead and buried not long ago. They want to make sure they definitely aren't making the grade.

 

Read somewhere that Henderson only has 6 months on his contract and has been told he wasn't getting an extension.

 

Ye canny compare Rogic to McCarthy or Shaw Fucksake

 

Rogic Celtic career was dead in the water. We were about to sell him to the Middle East. He was deemed surplus to requirements.

The point is that McCarthy and Shaw are only just in the door. The club aren't getting rid of them any time soon until they are certain they have no future here. A lot can change in a short space of time. McCarthy or/and Shaw may come good.

McCarthy is no going anywhere anyway. He's signed a 4 year deal last summer. No chance we're moving him on any time soon.

 

I wouldn't mind seeing McCarthy leave tbh, bitton is far better than him and Ideguchi puts him further down the pecking order.

 

Think your right on Henderson. I think we will let him go even in this window if we get any kind of offer. But if not he will for sure be off in the summer.

It certainly sounds like there is a bit of a clear out planned between loans and sales.

Various reports that we are open to offers for Ajeti, Barkas, Bollingoli and Soro, my guess would be at least two will leave on loans to buys and perhaps one may be sold just now.

You then have Henderson who is going, McIlroy has previously said he expects to go too. It wouldn’t surprise me if Connell was allowed to leave in the summer.

Then Shaw and Orihoghide to leave on loan. A lot of talk that Johnston could go to DUTD
on loan too probably dependent on bringing in another winger right enough. Be interesting to see if any others the likes of Hazard may be sold or at least out on loan he’s way down the pecking order here.

I know none of the above have really had much game time but it would be another window with considerable player turnover.

After adding the two Japanese boys I would like to see us still being in another versatile attacker who could play across the front and if we could get someone of the calibre of Wolf on loan that would be great. Especially if there was an option and we tied up Jota and CCV so would only have one loan player in the first team squad.

After that a pre contract for a left back, centre back, other attacking centre mid and a striker would be good business but that could run beyond the window.

 

I'm bemused why anyone would leave out Ralston, lose him and we ose an absolute warrior and winner, never mind his ever improving abilty which I think is already at a high standard

 

Rogic was going because we had a fat drunk as a manager. The turnaround in Rogic says more about the people in charge at the time more than anything else.

Of course we aren’t getting rid of him. Him and his agent know they’ve done us and won’t walk away from that deal unless they get paid off.

If the club could get out of the deal tomorrow with no financial hit they’d bite your hand off.

 

Poster on KDS saying we are looking at pre-contracts. Not sure of names but one of positions been looked at is Defender.

According to him as well looking to move on the Greek Keeper, Soro, Ajeti and Boli.

although tabloids are saying the huns are looking at him , ive seen we have considered him also , the players name is doekhi from vitesse , cb and contract up

 

I also hope we start to look at 6ft3 plus defenders as our cbs other than jullien seem barely 6ft, who help defending set pieces

 

Aye it's been reported we're looking at guy's like Gudmundsson and that already..

The player's out is obvious as * as well..

We need to find more gems on pre contracts..
