Not really sure how to feel about last night. Disappointed obviously we lost in a game that was for sure winnable but given the lack of talent we have it is not like we would have done anything at the Euro Finals given the group we would have been in. While there was certainly an improvement in our overall play our total lack of goal threat and creativity in midfield was there for all to see. The reality is we have a long long road ahead of us before we can maybe look forward to watching an Ireland team that is actually good and enjoyable to watch. I do not envy Kenny the task he has on his hands at all but wish him the best.

I just don't think Kenny has the players of skill to do all the 'tippy tappy' stuff he wants to do. I'd go back to playing utter ugly, horrendous *, but finding the strength in what we do have over trying to be all 'tippy tappy' and 'nice'.

I get what your saying and I do not disagree in principle. But I disagree in the sense that we need to change. We need to start playing football and while in the short term it may costs results we need to change. It is not ok to just keep producing the same dour anti football rubbish that we have for so long now. That football may win us a few more games in the short term but it does not work at the top level and it only gets you so far see the euro 2012 finals. We need to actually produce players that are not only technically proficient but want the ball, are comfortable in possession under pressure and can play and create. We are as bad as we are now talent wise because Delaney and the FAI for so long abdicated putting the proper structures in place to ensure a good number of top level players can be developed within Ireland. That needs to change. Some blocks have been put in place with the beginnings of academies at clubs Like Bohemians, St Patricks Athletic and Shamrock Rovers but those needed to be built on and spread throughout the League of Ireland. The underage national league structures again are a start but need to be built on. A national academy for the best 13-17 year olds maybe financially something for the future but at least now we should be holding regular national camps purely to work with those top young players. But that all only matters if at every level from the academies on up to the full national team we are committed to playing football that is technically good with players who are comfortable in possession especially under pressure and who want the ball who want to play and be creative. Yes we will lose some games in the short term but we need to be forward looking. There is no reason we cannot develop a national system that can produce a good regular stream of high level players who can have us be competitive at the highest level internationally while also playing quality attractive to watch football we can all be proud of. But it will take time it will not happen over night.

A tad better than Thursday. I'm expecting your mob to beat the Slovaks tonight, they're a poor side.

Mate I could care less for international football. Rarely give it time of day but no other football on and thought I'd watch Duffy.

I'm beginning to get that way myself to be honest. The lack of crowds is also killing it. The Euros without fans will be dire.

That was weird there, you'd think the Ref would call it back for a foul on McClean, two harsh bookings.
