I know nobody said he was Maldini, but the hype about the signing was a bit unreal imo.

He’s a decent centre back and will probably do well for us. Hand on heart though, I don’t think he’ll single handedly solve our defensive issues, but he should hopefully slot in nicely to a back three and allow us to play that system.

 

I've always wanted International football to be played in 1 block of games at the end of every season.

Like instead of interupting Club football 4 times or whatever amount per season, why don't they end the club season a month sooner and play all the Internationals in one full month. Club season then International season.

International football is *, the only things of interest are the World Cup and EUROs. Ireland games, the Wales, Scotland and England have all been utter *, some of the worst games you've ever seen in a row. Teams disjointed as they never play together and in empty stadiums in these Nations games even worse and more boring.

 

And everyone said he was exactly what we needed when linked then signed, let Duffy do the dirty work and let Jullien and Ajer play out from the back. Our defence is constantly getting bullied by lump it football on * parks he will help sort that side of things, he will also add a goal threat at the other end at corners because I’m fed up tae * watching us never score from any.

 

I agree with this. We need a brick wall at the back at the moment. I think it'll work well. And he'll definitely score. It's all good

 

I think he is the type of centre back we needed but don’t think his signing will entirely solve our defensive issues. We simply haven’t had enough protection from midfield. The bigger thing for me is that is should hopefully signal the switch to 3/5/2. If that’s not the case then we’ll still have major issues ahead.

Not saying he ain’t a decent defender, or that I don’t think he’ll do well here, but the build up was a bit much, imo.

 

Not as if Pukki has been pish in the self proclaimed ‘best league in the known universe’ is it? Aye but * it let’s get tore into our new CB. Whit a place indeed!

 

The build up was because it grew arms and legs then there is the Republican link like it or not, I’m not saying he’s the best CB we could’ve got but he is what we need imo.

 

it was all one paced like the scotland game wasnt it, is it because were at the start of the season ? i dont think so

when were getting into the final third is where it should speed up

its like players are waiting for the defence to make a mistake in order for us to get a chance at scoring, no mistake no chance of scoring

maybe this possession passing based game that everyones trying to play is only able to realistically be done if you have brilliant players in the attacking half, players who can play brilliant one touch football and have great skills and tricks

 

Duffy isn't the issue in that Ireland team.

I think the thing from the Irish fans who have watched Duffy over the last few years is that he will be something different to what we currently have, and some of the recurring criticisms of the centre backs. He will not get bullied by the likes of Dykes( who I know has left.). There will also be no discussion pre or post game over whether he fancies a plastic pitch.

Ironically in this sense he is probably more like Maldini than our current centre backs.

 

Was out the picture last season and still in pre season so he's behind even the rusty first team EPL boy's..

I'll judge him once he's up to full speed..
