Welcome back sports fans. And welcome to a whole raft of newly joined fans from Australia. :58:

It's time to pick up on our monthly Movie Rankdown.

And while there are still a few genres that have not been covered yet, after the response to tho 2010's Rankdown, thought it would be cool to stick with that sort of theme for now, and take a trip back to a different era.

For this Rankdown, we will be exploring and celebrating the movies that were released pre-1970.

This includes any film that was released, irrespective of genre or origin. So it doesn't matter if it was Hollywood or anywhere else in the world. So long as it was released prior to January 1, 1970.

And yes, I know that technically the 'Golden Age' ended in 1963 (or '66 depending on source), but for the purpose of this, am rounding it up to include the entire 1960s as well.

Silent, Film Noir, Foreign, Murder, Comedy, neo-realism, musical, pre-Hays Code, you name it.

So, as always this first week will be all about nominating your favourite films of any genre that fit the criteria.

Then once the nominations have been compiled, people will then be invited to vote/submit rankings based on all the films that have been nominated.

    Nominations close Sunday 5pm @ 15 August.

The window for Rankings then will open when the compiled Nominations have been posted.

Ranking Window will then close on Sunday 22 August.

    To recap:

    • Any film, regardless of origin or genre, released prior to 1970.
    • Between now and Sunday 15 August, nominate as many films as you like that fit the criteria.
    • Please be aware that often there have been numerous remakes of films/movies with the same/similiar title, so please specify which if necessary.
Will tag some of the usual suspects in this thread, but as always this is open to all and everyone is welcome to contribute and have their 2 pence worth.

Will tag the usual suspects and some others as well shortly.

Hmmm, need to see what I can drag up here, a few come to mind, not that they would enter with my fav movies of all time that are over that period, as I never really did movies and haven't went back and watched and be honest to say probably don't recollect much of the movies now.

Geez this may be a struggle for me but I’ll come up with something. Do we get a year or 2 leeway. Because straight up I nominate the original * Wonka movie of 1971.
