Since fishing season is back round the corner thought I'd make a thread! I'm surprised there isn't one already.

Any keen fisherman on here? I'm not really a big fisher myself but we try and get out maybe 5 or 6 times during the summer.

Bunch of my pals are looking for somewhere good to go stay over night for it. Don't like catch and realise so fisherys and really an option.

    Any body got any ideas?

Feel free to highjack with general fishing nonsense

Uff that's impressive mate. You a fly fisherman or do spin/bait?

Heard Loch Awe is good, we just like getting the rods out going away for a day a camp fire and a few beers.

    Magic.

Cant live without my fishing, fee paying night soon then im all set for the season :icon_mrgreen:

used to be in a club that went all over scotland so its fair to say iv fished a good few lochs haha!

few favourites are Loch Awe (just for the pike), Tay, Lubhair, Lubnaig. Loch Fyne as well for the sea trout.

Loch Tay is excellent fishing when the Rainbows escape from the farms, the place is alive with fish haha.

my favourite loch is called Loch Baa, if you go there and dont catch a fish you may as well just chuck it haha!

the mid clyde section is fantastic value for money (cheapest salmon fishing in scotland) from dalmarnock bridge to bothwell bridge is fantastic. It better from august till end of season but I have caught grilse from march right the way through the season. some nights below the footbridge to bothwell at the livingston memorial in Blantyre (fish the blantyre side) is the proverbial shooting fish in a barrel. One night I caught 8 fresh sea liced salmon ranging from 5lbs to 15lbs in 3 hours. I must confess to being a philistine by using a copper (trout) toby as opposed to fly.

Biggest pike was 15lbs at the bothwell castle stretch and caught some lovely fresh fish behind the hoover factory at cambuslang.

A salmon was caught in the castle falls pool at Calderwood in EK last season in the rotten calder, first salmon that far up for decades.

Think about 10lb some friends say mor elike 12lb. I lost my scales and didnt get round to getting a new set but a friend who caught a 12lber said his seemed about the same weight when he seen it. Cant wait till the weather breaks and i get out again. I caught these in teh river moy on the west coast of ireland, one of the best if not thee best salmon river in europe. The bailiffs are a bunch a * thou, theyre never done chasing us for not paying, lol, cost a good few quid to fish it but by * im not paying a penny, lol.
